Position Function:

Responsible for managing, retaining and growing an assigned portfolio of business clients with deposit and loan account relationships that meet established lending and operational policies; and provides maximum profitability while managing risk. Multiple levels available based on qualifications.

Performs all duties and interacts with internal and external customers in a manner that is expressly aligned with the Company's Core Values of approaching all actions with a “Voyaging Spirit” and being “Positively Ohana”. Primary Accountabilities:

Deposit and Loan Portfolio Growth/Maintenance:

  • Grow the deposit and loan portfolio with existing and new clients.
  • Understand the needs of clients and maintain profiles to identify opportunities.
  • Generate new business from referrals and prospecting.
  • Maintain and generate new business through an organized and targeted calling program.
  • Develop and maintain a business referral and information network consisting of trusted professional contacts. Partner with other lines of business to generate referrals.
  • Possesses or is able to learn product knowledge and commercial credit skills.

Credit and Loan Portfolio Management:

  • Possesses or is able to learn commercial credit skills.
  • Is knowledgeable and adheres to the Bank’s credit policies and procedures.
  • Appropriately manages and maintains credit quality aspects of assigned portfolio.
  • This includes assessing the appropriate loan/borrower grade in a timely manner; timely renewal and/or extension of loans; minimizes all delinquencies (payment and tickler delinquencies); follows financial trends of respective borrowers; appropriately recommends waivers/amendments; and maintains credit files in compliance with Bank Credit Policies & Procedures.
  • Is knowledgeable and adheres to the Bank’s compliance policies and procedures.

Relationship Management:

  • Identify cross sell opportunities by knowing your client.
  • Team with business and branch partners to provide client with expertise for all stages of their business and personal life.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience with quality service.
  • Maintain regular contact and communication with clients evidenced by call reports and profiling.
  • Nominate worthy candidates for appropriate business and community awards.

Business Development and Community Relations:

  • Participates in bank sponsored, as well as outside business and community events to develop business.
  • Become knowledgeable and active in respective organizations/industry associations related to Business Banking niche market segment.
  • Promote, enhance and increase the goodwill of the bank within the community in a manner, which maintains and expands business relationships.
  • Actively nominate clients/ prospects for Awards and Recognition.
  • Create value-added benefits to the business community through specialized activity, events, programs, and promotions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited 4-year university or equivalent experience required.

Experience:

  • Officer I:
    • 1+ years of customer service experience required.
    • 1+ years of credit or small business financial products sales experience required.
    • 1+ years of credit training and credit analysis production work (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Officer II:
    • 2+ years small business lending experience required.
  • Senior Officer:
    • 5+ years small business lending experience required.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform light physical work and to move or lift items including but not limited to boxes, files and papers up to 20 pounds unless otherwise as indicated.
  • Must be able to operate and proficiently use standard office equipment, including phone, copier, personal computer and/or other work related mechanical or electronic devices and applications.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers. Must also be able to hear sufficiently to engage in daily discussions and interactions.
  • Must be able to read and understand bank-related documents.
  • Must be able to work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods of time. Must also be able to adapt to different work environments as needed to perform the job.
