POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide professional set up; service of any and all food and beverage functions of the Hotel, in and out. To perform all client needs in accordance with established standard operating procedures.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED

High School Diploma preferred but not mandatory, TIPS Training, 4-6 months experience in similar service or restaurant service.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities.)

Ability to satisfactorily communicate (verbal and written) in English with co-workers, guests, visitors and management. Spanish is a plus as a second language.

Read and understand English, i.e. Banquet Event orders, Manual of Standards,

liquor Requisitions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk up and down stairs, handle or feel equipment, and talk and hear. The associate is regularly required to sit and reach with hands and arms. Shall be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, as well as bend, squat and lift at least 35 lbs. and travel with weight for a minimum of 25-30 yards.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to long periods of standing and walking indoors and outdoors, including working in variable weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. May work in close quarters in some work areas. Transport equipment up and down the terraces, travel up and down stairs and inclines and through swinging doors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Set up standard and complex meal settings with instructions.

Set up receptions and theme parties.

Carry a tray and walk (with 10 serving plates or 20 dishes and silverware.)

Bend and lift trays with equipment on them.

Serve a plate while holding 2 or 3 in the other hand.

Pour a beverage while holding a bottle or pot in the other hand.

Work with your hands.

Transport equipment to and from work areas.

Handle and set up props, storage and care of same.

MENTAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to work in a fast paced and customer service-oriented environment; to perform duties under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner; to work as part of a team as well as to complete assignments independently; to take instructions from supervisors; to exercise problem solving skills; and to interact with co-workers, supervisors, guests and the public in a professional and pleasant manner; and to provide Elevated Service and maintain a calm atmosphere in the function areas.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must learn and comply with all Hotel safety rules; must use appropriate safety equipment at all times; must immediately report all unsafe condition to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features or equipment, machinery, or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisor if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
