Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Registration and Documentation: Processes all new and used vehicles for state registration, prepares tax and title documents, and submits legal transfer work to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Ensures the accuracy and completeness of all application forms, and prepares necessary checks for vehicle payoffs.
  • Title Management and Compliance: Verifies financial transactions, including fund collection and lienholder payments, before processing title applications. Maintains and verifies out-of-state titles, compiles a comprehensive list of outstanding title work, and reports to management on any missing or problematic titles. Ensures compliance with all title regulations through continuous learning and training.
  • Dealer and Wholesale Management: Bills out dealer trades, prepares Certificates of Origin, and manages the titling for wholesalers, including signing over titles for those who have paid in full. Prepares monthly reports on uncollected funds due to title issues.
  • Inventory and Sales Documentation: Prepares stock cards for new and used vehicles, posts vehicle sales and purchases, and processes all vehicle warranties and service contracts with detailed record-keeping.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Training: Stays updated with title regulations, attends relevant seminars, and provides training to Finance & Insurance (F&I) managers and sales personnel on title regulations and procedures. Issues memos on regulatory changes and cross-trains staff for title clerk responsibilities.
  • Operational Efficiency :Maintains a neat and professional work area, and ensures the yearly renewal of dealer tags in coordination with the comptroller.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Handles other assigned tasks, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to adapt to various operational needs within the dealership environment.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
