WAGE RANGE: $13.50-$18.00 per hour

JOB STATUS: Seasonal / Temporary / Non-exempt

WORK DATES: May 28-Aug 9, 2024


POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Summer Day Camp staff at Ozarks Regional YMCA ensures that childcare programs meet community needs including supervising children, implementing existing program activities and meeting its intended goals. This is not babysitting! The position involves actively engaging with children, teaching, creating and openly communicating. All required training is provided.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement & belonging
  2. Utilizes sound judgement and discretionary skills in accordance with policy
  3. Provide exceptional customer service to participants and their parents/guardians, and families
  4. Implements curriculum & age-appropriate programming within established guidelines
  5. Maintains an environment that ensures children are safe
  6. Always follows YMCA policies and guidelines
  7. Completes required trainings May 28-31, 2024
  8. Completes and submits all paperwork on time
  9. Establishes mutual respect & positive relationship with coworkers, supervisors, and school staff
  10. Demonstrates good character and serves as a role model for youth
  11. Maintains all daily attendance, meal counts, and other documents as required
  12. And all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Previous experience in childcare preferred
  • Must be available throughout the Summer, May-August
  • Requires successful completion of staff trainings May 28-31, 2024
  • The incumbent must align with and will consistently exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA
  • CPR & First Aid Certification required within first 30 days (training can be provided)
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Complete and pass both FCSR & fingerprint background screening
  • Documentation of state required medical exam and TB Risk Assessment within 30 days
  • Must learn and adhere to all State Licensing Requirements
  • Comply with all Food Program requirements & understand Federal Funding connection
  • Wear staff uniform & name badge
  • Have reliable transportation

  • Visual and auditory response to critical situations and ability to act swiftly in an emergency
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be louder at times
