ENGINEER – PRODUCTION SUPPORT
Our Client is located in Traverse City, Michigan, manufactures engineered-class chain and chain components for a variety of industries including automotive, paper/recycling, and food processing. Our client is a family-owned company who has been in business for over 100 years. They are dedicated to delivering a ‘customer first’ approach.
We are looking for an Engineer who will work directly with vendors and customers, as well as support production. This person will support manufacturing as related to design/assembly, in-process CAD, bills of material, and any other manufacturing issues.
This position will also interact and support sales and quoting, customer service, develop and maintain positive customer relations and coordinate with various functions within the company to ensure customer requests are handled appropriately and in a timely manner. This position will also interact and support sales and quoting, customer service, develop and maintain positive customer relations and coordinate with various functions within the company to ensure customer requests are handled appropriately and in a timely manner. Specific responsibilities include:
- Taking sales calls from customers
- Helping with design/quotations for chains and work with customers on design, layout, and approvals of projects
- Create assembly prints for customer sign-off as well part-prints to be released to manufacturing
- Create drawings using AutoCAD and assist in programming CNC lathes/mills
- Occasional travel to customer facilities to verify product requirements
Required Skills:
- AutoCAD experience
- Personable, outgoing demeanor, with ability to interact successfully with customers, vendors, and all levels inter-company.
- Good mechanical aptitude & attention to detail
- Good knowledge base of material selection and heat-treating processes
- Self-starting team player
- Ability to work and stay on task with little to no supervision
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of conveyors and conveyor applications.
