Position Summary

The Staff Accountant performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization. Prepares monthly trial balance, balance sheets and profit & loss statements. Maintains the general ledger. Codes all transactions (invoices, payments, deposits, expenses) sets up new accounts, maintains the chart of accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books in a timely manner.

**This is a fully remote, part-time position of approximately 15-20 hours per week.**

 Position Responsibilities
  • Oversees financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations.
  • Performs daily billing for all businesses
  • Categorizes all transactions in Quickbooks Online (QBO)
  • Handles monthly, quarterly and annual closings.
  • Processes bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees bonus payments and commissions as applicable
  • Reviews employee onboarding for payroll and benefits to ensure accuracy and correctness
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
  • Creates and manages financial statements and reporting. 
  • Creates and files all necessary tax and financial forms for the company.
  • Advises on best practices and optimizations throughout accounting processes.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to develop approaches for creating more-accurate financial records and models for the company.
  • Assists executive leadership in understanding the impact of financial decisions.
  • Assists with audit and annual tax filing deliverable requests.
  • Determines proper company filing schedule based on available information.
  • Assures consistency, quality and minimizes errors with respect to all recordkeeping and transaction categorizations
  • Has familiarity with Amazon Seller Central, Walmart Marketplace, Shopify or commiserate forms of ecommerce
  • Familiar with accounting for work in process, finished goods, inventory
  • Performs assigned tasks and communicates issues/obstacles in a timely manner
  • Expert level proficiency in maintaining organized folders, records, saving statements, requesting supporting documents and follow-up in a collaborative manner
  • Assists with maintaining company policies in areas such as travel, use of corporate card, submitting expense on a timely manner and communicates policy violations
  • Implements feedback and changes whenever possible.
  • Communicates consistently and effectively with executives and stakeholders via various communication tools, including 15Five, Googlemeet/Zoom, Asana, Slack, email, and text.
  • Adaptable to change, process improvement and automation
  • Performs other related responsibilities as assigned or required.
 Required Skills and Abilities
  • Strong analytical skills, exceptional integrity, and excellent presentation skills. 
  • Proficiency in accounting software and bookkeeping programs such as QuickBooks Online. 
  • Proficiency with software such as Rippling, Bill.com, Expensify, Slack, Asana, 15Five, Google Suite
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present detailed financial information in a manner that’s easy to understand.
  • Is a team player who is proactive, flexible, results-oriented and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Functions well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

 Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in an accounting-related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in accounting / bookkeeping.
  • Experience with general ledger functions, multiple forms of transaction processing and categorization.
