JOB DESCRIPTION Date: February 2024

TITLE: Manager, Mission Engagement Experiences

RESPONSIBLE TO: Vice President, Mission Advancement

DIVISION/DEPT: Mission Delivery Team

SUPERVISES: Mission Engagement Specialists (3)

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

BASIC FUNCTION:

  • Lead design and implementation of mission engagement strategies.
  • Support Mission Engagement/Opportunity Accelerator team by establishing project management protocols, systems, and processes.

SPECIFIC DUTIES[1]:

  1. Lead the design and implementation of mission engagement experiences to include but not limited to webinars, affinity groups, and virtual and in-person engagement and learning experiences.
  2. Collaborate with GII colleagues to increase mission engagement through consultations, OA Fellows recruitment, and field-testing.
  3. Work jointly with cross-functional teams to coordinate the collection of member feedback following New Product Development (NPD) processes.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful launch, implementation and expansion of mission services that includes management of detailed project schedules, work plans and budgets.
  5. Review stakeholder reports and provide edits and recommendations as needed to ensure quality and adherence to the GII Editorial Style Guide and Brand Guidelines.
  6. Work directly with project managers to help implement project goals, maintain project schedule and efficacy.
  7. Assist with procuring materials and other items as necessary to ensure completion of project goals.
  8. Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed.
  9. Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.
  10. Develop, lead, and manage new team member onboarding process.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

This position is supported by grants, and continuance is dependent upon on-going funding.

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Daily contact with GII team members to coordinate projects and support activities.

GII Members: Frequent contact with local Goodwill leaders.

Outside: Frequent contact with external organizations, GII partners and others as designated.

SKILLS NEEDED[2]

  1. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to establish trust, build relationships, and demonstrate integrity and credibility with GII colleagues, local Goodwill members, partners and other stakeholders.
  2. Demonstrated ability to achieve goals by collaborating across teams, departments, and levels (e.g., within GII, local Goodwill organizations, partners, collaborators, and others).
  3. Strong programmatic, project, and process management skillsets, to ensure the production of high-quality work on multiple projects.
  4. Demonstrated detail oriented, and fiscal or programmatic management expertise with strong analytical skills.
  5. Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies and best practices.
  6. Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget and timeline.
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate and present effectively in person and virtually (e.g., grant reporting, phone/online conversations, webinars/presentations, and e-mails).
  8. Ability to work in a team environment and to relate well to others both on an individual basis and in a group.

EDUCATION:

Minimum of bachelor’s degree in business management, computer science, or equivalent experience with Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Two or more years project management experience including managing programmatic details and budgets.
  2. Two years’ experience providing consultation services to groups or organizations desired.
  3. Familiarity with project management software tools, data visualization tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  4. Experience designing and delivering face-to-face and virtual presentations.
  5. Prefer experience or exposure to innovation or projects using design thinking techniques. Must be comfortable leading workshops, seeking input, and storytelling.

DECISION MAKING:

Ability to work independently and make decisions aligned with general program goals, objectives, and policies. Decisions on scheduling projects and determining priorities.

SUPERVISION:

Regular – Latitude is given to the position in carrying out work assignments. Work is checked regularly for accuracy and completeness. Works under general supervision.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Sedentary, lifting 10 pounds maximum. Walking or standing is required only occasionally; accommodation available. Requires long hours at a computer. Requires frequent travel.

EMOTIONAL EFFORT:

Work environment usually hectic with periods of high stress. Will need a positive attitude to meet daily challenges.
