FOH Supervisor Duties & Training Checklist

The role of a sales floor supervisor is to assist with the day-to-day operations of the retail dispensary and provide support to the management team. During their shift, they are expected to coordinate and monitor sales floor staff, perform administrative cash handling, and ensure that policies are being upheld. They are also in charge of training new hires and communicating the trainees' progress with management. A supervisor is a very task-oriented position and requires a person who is organized, pays close attention to detail, and works with a sense of urgency. They must switch frequently between assisting FOH employees with their duties (from applying discount codes, distributing change or other transaction assistance to helping cover employees' roles for breaks) and performing the roles themselves to improve the flow of the sales floor and boost overall productivity.

Essential Duties:

  • Delegation of duties to front of house staff and supporting them throughout the shift.
  • Creating a lunch and break schedule daily and making sure it is followed.
  • Assist in proper and thorough training of all employees.
  • Helps monitor and enforce transaction standards and procedures (such as MVP and Scan, tag and bag, laying out cash and marking bills, etc.).
  • Ensures that all staff are abiding by BLOC Dispensary policies and procedures.
  • Takes initiative to ensure that sales floor employees remain compliant to CRA regulations.
  • Provides clear and effective communication to employees, Lead Supervisors, Store Manager, Inventory Lead Supervisors, and corporate staff.
  • Ensures all customers experience excellent care while in our facility.
  • Manages the flow of the store during their shift and can step in to cover any position as needed.
  • Helps with transactions and other POS functions when needed by applying discounts, processing returns and voids, getting change, and closing registers.
  • Ensures all in stock items are up on display on the sales floor.
  • Exhibits persistence and strong leadership through example and experience.

Daily Tasks:

  • Ensure all money is faced, organized, accurate, and accounted for during their shift.

o Daily checks that the previous EOD drop, petty cash, change bag, and tips are up to date,

accurate, and organized.

o All money should be grouped into bundles of like bills with a receipt from the bill

counter on the outside showing the contents.

o Reaches out to the Lead Supervisor or Store Manager with any cash discrepancies and

assists in finding solutions to the best of their ability.


  • Discounts for the day are verified, advertisements are correct on all platforms, and sale items are

in stock before opening.

  • Assist in leading the "puff points" meeting at beginning of shift (with both front and back of

house in attendance). Discuss daily sales, notify staff of available back stock, and notify staff of

sales goals for the day set by management.

  • Delegates duties to staff in a way that ensures the store operates in an efficient and successful

manner.

  • Leads by example by spending at least 80% of their time performing FOH duties, ideally floating or budtending.
  • Notifying Store Manager of any employees who called off, were late or sent home early during

their shift.

  • Store is clean and organized, high traffic areas are sanitized often.
  • All staff members are busy performing an essential function at the store.

o Anyone who is not doing so is redirected if the store is busy, or sent home if approved by

Store Manager.


  • Assists in maintaining staff morale and motivation.

o Leads by example with a positive attitude and excellent work ethic.

o Can identify and resolve small customer or staff issues before they escalate.

  • Supports Store Manager and Operations by implementing and upholding any changes made.
  • Conducts budtender audits daily to ensure they are compliant and in agreeance with BLOC policies and regulations.
  • Maintains a constant presence on the sales floor and is always busy either performing a FOH

duty or assisting other FOH staff.

  • Notifies lead supervisor(s) and Store Manager of any issues with employees or customers in a

detailed and efficient manner.

  • Addresses all employees fairly and in an unbiased manner.
  • All invoices received during their shift are checked for compliance, uploaded to the drive, and

filed correctly.

  • Assists with closing registers at shift change and delegating end of shift cleaning tasks. Verifies

that tasks are performed correctly before dismissing staff.

  • Assigns roles to incoming staff and makes sure to set up the employees and the store for

success.

  • When closing, ensures the cash and EOD emails are correct and sent to all the designated

applicants with all necessary information.
