Job Summary
Operate the Lysine Dryer, FL/Crystallizer production processes and equipment using computer software, collect and process samples, inspect equipment and performing troubleshooting or repair as necessary.
Essential Job Functions
- Collect samples and test density, pH, total solids, crystal slurry %
- Control product crystal size by observing samples, HMI and process data
- Operates production processes and equipment using HMI computer software to evaporate, crystallize, separate and dry lysine crystals to proper moisture levels. Cool, sort and store product in preparation for packaging.
- Monitors production equipment, operating control systems, and utilizes computer systems to input and record data as necessary
- Monitor density, tank levels, equipment and process conditions (temperature, vacuum pressure, pump current)
- Dissolve non-conforming product as needed
- Ensure separators are separating ML from the wet crystals efficiently
- Monitor dryer and cooler temperature, differential pressure and air flow to ensure final product is within specifications
- Inspect equipment and area for cleanliness and normal operating conditions
- Ensure sifter operation is efficient by scraping sifter screens daily;
- Collect samples to verify the final product moisture content is within specifications;
- Clean In Place (CIP) all equipment as needed
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area
- Accurately and legibly record process and sample data
- Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Demands & Work Environment
- This position works 12-hour shifts (36 / 48 hours per week alternating, rotating nights & days every 4 weeks), which includes days, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime
- This position works in a manufacturing environment, which includes exposures to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, vibrations, varying atmospheric conditions and temperatures, hazardous chemicals, high pressure steam, dust
- This position regularly requires the ability to remain in a stationary position up to 30% of shift, standing, walking extended distances, ascending/descending stairs extended distances, close/distance vision. Occasionally requires confined space entry, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, ascending/descending ladders, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to wear full-face respirator and protective equipment for testing. This includes minimal facial hair in order to ensure proper fit in of respirator in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma / GED
- Production experience preferred
