Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, energetic Lead Pre-K Teacher starting August 2024 for our collaborative classroom at our Molly Ockett Early Learning Center (Fryeburg). This position is 40 hours, generally follows school-year calendar.

  • Pay Range: $20.50-$22.50/hour depending on education and experience
  • This position is currently eligible for an additional monthly wage supplement through the State of Maine Early Childhood Educator Workforce Salary Supplement Program. The tiered supplements are currently in payments of $275, $415, or $625 monthly. Visit maine.gov/dhhs for more information.

Essential Duties:

  • Leads a high-quality Pre-K classroom team
  • Planning activities and tailoring curriculum to meet children’s social, emotional, physical, literacy, and cognitive development
  • Communicating with and supporting families in meet their children’s and families’ needs
  • Work with management to maintain Head Start Performance Standards and Licensing requirements

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one of the following:
    • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education required or a closely related field
    • Child Development Associate credential with commitment to complete Associate's Degree
    • 12 related college credits with commitment to complete Associate's Degree
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Current or ability to obtain State of Maine Teaching Certification
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience is preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in early care and education is preferred

Other Requirements: Successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate others; ability to function autonomously and as part of a team; considerable stamina to regularly lift, bend, carry, and perform other high-energy activities; competency with Microsoft Office; ability to obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. Pre-employment physical, SBI, DMV, Maine Sex Offender Registry, DHHS fingerprinting, fraud, and federal debarment background checks must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of employment; valid driver’s license and travel within the service area is required.
