Job Summary

As a member of the Triple Creek Ranch management team, the Beverage Manager provides leadership to all wine and beverage related operations while achieving the highest level of quality, customer satisfaction and employee engagement.


Minimum Required Qualifications

The person in this position needs to:

  • Constantly move about the dining room, kitchen and rooftop lounge.
  • Frequently use hands to open and pour wine.
  • Occasionally use cleaning equipment to wipe, scrub and polish.
  • Frequently ascend and descend stairs when moving between the dining room and the rooftop lounge or storage areas on the main floor.
  • Occasionally positions self to reach items in lower cabinets or on lower shelves.
  • Frequently communicates with guests regarding drink selections and other ranch information, guest requests or concerns to the Beverage Manager or other appropriate departments.
  • Occasionally lift and carry boxes, equipment, food trays and other items weighing upwards of 30 lbs.
  • Must possess an alcohol server certification valid in the state of MT, or obtain one within 60 days of hire.
  • Certification through the Court of Master Sommelier (not required)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and be insurable on our company liability insurance as a driver of company vehicles.        


Essential Functions

  • Create a positive and energetic environment that supports the delivery of an exceptional guest experience while upholding the highest level of TCR and Relais & Châteaux standards. 
  • Maintain the extraordinary five-star TCR image and resort appearance including all service, cleanliness, and appearance standards.
  • Must adhere to TC Ranch alcohol policy, creating a space where guests can enjoy themselves, but not be overserved.
  • Respond to all guest questions, requests and issues immediately.
  • The position may require times when the Beverage Manager will be the  Manager on Duty for the Dining Room, overseeing dinner service and addressing any guest or service-related issues. 
  • Oversee the bar and anything that pertains to the department and staffing. Support the lead bartender and give recommendations on how to improve the overall experience with training and creative ideas. 
  • Create schedules for all beverage staff adhering to TCR scheduling policy. 
  • Direct beverage functions through wine list development, menu planning, presentation, coordination of special event & vintner weekends,wine tastings and Chef’s table programming.
  • Support daily communications with culinary, marketing, guest experience, housekeeping, reservations and guest service teams on special requests, wine menus, guest needs, special events and changes to operational norms.
  • Serve as primary Sommelier to our guests.  Advise our patrons about wine choices according to personal needs based on taste and food pairings.  Share in-depth knowledge of wines to educate our guests and our staff on grape varieties, regions, harvest times, climate types, soils and the general winemaking process.  Keep up with current wine trends through taste and travel.  Make recommendations of house and premium wines as well as all other types of beverages.  Guide guests through wine pairings and seminars as needed.
  • Coordinate all beverage and beverage related supply ordering.  Build and maintain a wine list and cocktail list suitable to the needs and expectations of Triple Creek Ranch guests and owners.  Maintain adequate par levels of all products; negotiate pricing; pickup/receive orders; properly rotate, store and secure inventory; code and submit invoices.  Maintain a positive relationship with purveyors.
  • Maintain the wine collection’s award-winning status with Wine Spectator, and seek other award and recognition opportunities.
  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including beverage, supply, utility and labor costs.  Maintain labor costs through efficient employee scheduling and time management.  Ensure that all financial (budgeting, invoices, reporting, inventory) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Interview, select, train and mentor employees for efficient operations.  Motivate and develop employees by communicating expectations, delivering feedback and conducting periodic evaluations.  Lead with integrity, setting maximum standards for yourself and your team.
  • Manage guest beverage stocking needs required for the lodge experience and stocking in their cabins. Follow up with the lead bartender to make sure that they are also getting the stocking requests ordered through the liquor store. All cabin stocking requests should be delivered in a timely manner to the Housekeeping liquor closet. 
  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of equipment, food storage and back dock area.  Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws and ordinances.
  • Adhere to company and department dress code.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
