Job Description

Capital University's Communication, Art, and Theatre Department invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track, Assistant or Associate Professor of Art Therapy position with a start date of August 2024.


A Master's degree in Art Therapy or other appropriate field and LPCC-S or equivalent counseling license is required. Additionally, a successful candidate will have an ATR-BC from the Art Therapy Credentials Board by appointment date (ATCS preferred). Successful university level teaching experience is preferred, and art therapy curriculum development experience is desired. Teaching load is 24 credits annually.


We seek candidates who have an Art Therapy training background, including responsibilities related to practicum/internship experiences and community engagement. The successful candidate will possess the ability to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate Art Therapy courses. The selected candidate will participate in the development and implementation of a Graduate Art Therapy program to align with the State of Ohio Art Therapy license requirements and CACREP and CAAHEP accreditation standards. In addition to teaching, the position requires a faculty member who can facilitate program outcome attainment, supervise student practicums and research, participate in student recruitment, and serve on department and university committees. Those considered for tenure track must demonstrate excellence in teaching, have an active scholarship agenda and/or engage in creative activity and be active members of the American Art Therapy Association as well as other relevant professional organizations.
