In Home Caregiver

We are seeking a caring and capable caregiver to join our team at Village Caregiving - Portsmouth. As a Caregiver, you will be responsible for providing quality and compassionate care to our elderly and disabled patients, their families, and other caregivers. You must be able to work well independently and be able to empathize with the patient's needs. This is a part-time, hourly position and will allow the candidate the opportunity to choose their own hours to fit their own lifestyle.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation for this position is $12 to $15 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, and is paid semimonthly. Other benefits include 401(k), paid vacation and sick leave, and flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality care for elderly and disabled patients in line with established care plans.
• Assisting patients in their daily activities, such as performing mobility exercises, personal grooming, and preparing meals.
• Ensuring safety and security of patients' personal and medical information.
• Observing and reporting changes in patient’s condition or behavior.
• Entirely responsible for the care and safety of the patient.
• Carrying out basic and complex household chores such as cleaning and laundry.
• Providing companionship and emotional support to patients and families.
• Escorting patients to doctor’s visits or other necessary appointments.

Requirements

• One year or more of experience in providing care to elderly or disabled patients.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must possess basic medical knowledge and the ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in times of stress and strong emotional situations.
• Must pass a criminal background check and have acceptable references.
• Capable of lifting/moving up to fifty pounds when necessary.
• Professional and friendly demeanor with a strong commitment to patient care.
