Description

Summary:

Provides leadership, management and operational oversight to the Medical Staff Services department. The director works collaboratively with the Regional Chief Medical Officer and Medical Staff Leaders to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the programs and activities of the Medical Staff and ensure that the strategies of the Medical Staff are supported and attained, goals and plans are realized and there is adherence to the requirements of regulatory and accreditation bodies that are relevant to the organized Medical Staff. Key administrative departmental relationships include Administration and Quality Management Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Works 1:1 with credentialing specialists to address concerns and document issues with initial and reappointment applications.
  • Provides 100% audit on initial and recredentialing applications.
  • Additional responsibility is to monitor reappointments to assure none go over 24 months, per TJC standards and/or 36 months, per NCQA standards.
  • In Directors absence, this position provides expertise and works collaboratively with the IT Dept. on the following issues: e-prescribe, 340-B Program, system access for medical staff (CSARs) and medical record suspension support.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare related field
  • CPMSM certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services required.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS and other laws/regulations highly preferred.
  • Five years comprehensive experience as Medical Services Professional within a hospital setting.
  • Managerial experience required.
  • Must have working knowledge of Medical Staff Credentialing concepts and comprehensive knowledge base of state/federal regulatory requirements and accreditation standards related to the organized medical staff.
