Overview

Leading a global team of graphic designers, the Sr. Graphic Designer will bring a mix of marketing and design expertise and people management experience to the role. The ideal candidate will create brand recognition for Southco by establishing and utilizing brand elements and communicating with internal stakeholders to find ways to incorporate brand elements in collateral and customer communications. The Sr. Graphic Designer will drive the design concepts and graphic content for Southco by identifying and developing design requirements and storyboards, and ensuring materials are both contemporary and consistent with the Southco brand. Working with external suppliers for print collateral, brand merchandise, and signage, this role will ensure contemporary design styles and content types (digital, print, web, video, animations, etc.) are utilized as appropriate.

Qualifications

• BA degree in Graphic Design or equivalent.
• Complete Apple MAC familiarity a must with advanced knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite, i.e. Illustrator, In-Design, Photoshop, etc. After Effects, GoLive, or other web developmment software capability a plus.
• 7 - 10 years of experince in graphic design, with at least 3 being in B2B environment.
• Complete knowledge of preparing files for printing and undstanding of the the printing process.
• Thorough knowledge of photography & techniques.
• Previous supervision of freelancers or junior graphics professionals.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% (domestic and international)
• Experience in creating integrated content across all marketing channels: digital, social media, paid media, email, and print.

Responsibilities

• Prepares design layouts of various marketing graphics and digital collateral, promotional literature and Handbook, etc. as assigned - requiring a knowledge of layout composition, production techniques and a variety of styles and media. Will also be responsible for publication and production of these materials.
• Consults with internal clients in a professional manner as needed requesting appropriate information, art work, etc. necessary to prepare and produce the project and to clarify and discuss requests and resolve problems arising from clients' preferences, methods of production, production requirements, budgetary and time limitations.
• Lead global graphic design team to ensure consistency and provide design support. Ensures that all team members' views are considered and that design directions are understood and agreed upon. Prioritize work and resources, based on short- and long-term needs, and develop schedules by collaborating with designers, copywriters, and project management.
• Work with engineering to create and manage product images from renderings to videos to engineering drawings. Produce fresh, innovative work that translates complex ideas into compelling print materials and digital experiences for sophisticated audiences and technical buyers.
• Is responsible for determining specs and obtaining appropriate quotes from production vendors and is responsible for these vendors in delivering on-time, on-budget, quality service. Also responsible for accurate graphic file proofing of all publications before printing, reviewing and approving printer proofs and responsible for final print quality output.
• Determines need for outside freelance help, and coordinates production of materials with outside freelancers as needed to meet deadlines and project loads. Outside freelancers may be for renderings, animations, videos, photography, etc.
• Manages special requests for graphic materials required by other departments, Senior Management, Southco distributors, Shareholder meetings, and other special needs, etc.

• Responsible for properly identifying, maintaining and updating department graphic project files and file archives in a manner which can be intelligently accessible by all members of the Marcom team globally. Responsible for proper purchasing, archiving, renewing and managing of managed rights photography, artwork, etc. Responsible for necessary maintenance of graphic computers and software to minimize department downtime and maximize department efficiency.
