POWER Engineers is seeking a Mid/Senior Structural Designer for Power Generation for our office in Oradell, NJ. Responsibilities include: Working in a team environment with minimal direction to develop a concrete foundation and structural steel models, design drawings for concrete and steel structures, and there are potential field verification responsibilities on established sites and sites in construction.

Help us assist multiple types of clients (Independent Power Producers, Municipal Electric Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, Contractors, and Developers,) address their challenges and implement power grid systems of the future. Get experience in a wide range of power plant technologies including biomass, municipal waste, geothermal, hydrogen, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, hydro, and solar. Work for multiple POWER Divisions (Power Generation, Power Delivery, Facilities, and Federal.)
Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:
  • A proven system to mentor and develop leaders within our organization.
  • A major component of our design process relies on integrated 3D Modeling (Autodesk, Bentley, and Intergraph.)
  • There is a lot of latitude for decision-making; we're not interested in micromanaging.
  • We expect everyone on the team to assume ownership of the project's goals and success. You will coordinate with the client, other disciplines, the permitting agencies, and contractors.

  • Extended Field assignments are periodically available.
Required Education/Experience:
  • Associates degree in Design and Drafting (or equivalent technical degree) or 10 years of documented experience
  • 5 years of design/drafting experience with Smart-Plant 3D or 3D Design software
  • Coordination model experience with Smart-Plant Review and or Navisworks
Desired Experience:
  • Knowledge of structural steel, concrete, and foundation design, standards, and specifications
  • Extensive experience with the preparation of concrete, structural steel, and related detail drawings.
  • Power plant/refinery experience
