Description:
Manson Northwest Webster Elementary School is currently accepting applications for a part-time School Cook. MNW Elementary school is a Preschool-6th grade building part of Manson Northwest Webster Community School District. The elementary school is located in Barnum which is located on Highway 7 between Manson and Fort Dodge. The elementary school uses a strong MTSS system to help guide instruction for learners. The elementary uses PBIS, enVision math curriculum, Wonders reading curriculum, and Project Lead the Way for hands on science learning.


Job Summary:
To provide each school child with a nutritious and high quality meal prepared in a safe and efficient environment. It is the goal of every position to provide services which will ensure the successful and efficient operations of the Manson Northwest Webster School District. The perfect candidate must have the ability to positively interact with the Food Service Director, be a self starter, have effective communication skills, maintain good personal hygiene, ability to meet deadlines, and ability to lift 50 lbs.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, safety standards, board policies and administrative rules.
  • Oversee the kitchen operations, scheduling, training and supervising cooks and kitchen helpers.
  • Coordinate food preparation, use of standardized recipes and analyze nutritional value of food products served.
  • Maintain records and data associated with the operations of the kitchen.
  • Keep a working inventory of all food products and supplies in the freezer and storage area.
  • Provide input as to quantity and quality of products ordered for food services.
  • Oversee operations and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  • Adjust recipes to produce the desired quantity of food product.
  • Utilize the HACCP principles in assuring the safety of food preparation and implementation of standard operating procedures as applied to the food service area.
  • Order product and produce needed each week for meal preparation.
  • Maintain a high quality flavor and appearance of food items served to students.
  • Be sensitive and accommodating to students requiring special menu situations because of medical reasons.
  • Plan and assign preparation of breakfast menu items for service on a daily basis.
  • Initiative and Creativity while following applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, safety standards, board policies and administrative rules in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Dress appropriately for the position and work required.
  • Complete all general duties and tasks associated with this assigned position in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Flexible and willing to perform other tasks as assigned.

Certification Requirements:
High School diploma and experience or equivalent training in food services
