Purpose of Position:

Working in a team, under the oversight of an RN, provide a variety of patient care duties including, but not limited to, passing medicine, vital sign assessment, observation, patient/family teaching, and record keeping that is focused on the comfort and health of the patients in the outpatient clinic or long term care units.

Uphold the organization’s vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization’s policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with data collection for patients, including medical history, according to established guidelines and report any significant change in patient condition
  • Perform patient screening for vital signs, specimens, preventive health measures, immunizations and patient safety
  • Implement physician orders according to establish policy and procedures and pharmacy guidelines
  • Administer prescribed medications adhering to LPN scope of practice as outlined in State of Alaska Board of Nursing
  • Perform nursing procedures to include but not limited to, wound treatment, EKGs, foley insertions, and patient education
  • Assist medical staff, team leaders and co-workers to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient care
  • Perform other duties as assigned
