Sampson Regional Medical Center is hiring a Scheduler/ Pre-Registrar I to join the Outpatient Rehabilitation team.


Description:

The Scheduler/ Pre-Registrar I is responsible for scheduling and pre-registering patients for multiple outpatient rehabilitation services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. The employee will have interactions with all levels of staff and management, physicians, patients, and families to obtain information and properly schedule and pre-register services. Responsibility include collecting and evaluating patient demographic information, insurance information, clinical and ensures appointments have prior authorization. Receives incoming phone calls related to all aspects of scheduling and coordination of patients and resources. Serves as central point of communication for referring providers, patients and their caregivers to secure resources necessary for patient care. Interfaces and/or works directly with therapists, physicians, community offices and other medical facilities to coordinate cases and appointments.


Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Previous clerical experience of one year, hospital experience preferred.
  • Ability to critically think and make decisions in a fast paced environment while maintaining a calm, polite composure even in difficult and demanding circumstances.
  • Good customer service skills, involving answering phone and handling customer inquiries.
  • Medical terminology experience and education preferred.
  • Medical coding experience preferred with proficient use of ICD-10 codes.
  • Understanding of scheduling guidelines for hospital-based outpatient rehabilitation services according to Medicare & the practice acts to ensure appropriate compliance.
