GENERAL POSITION SMMARY:

This is an advanced level position that exists to grow acceptance and use of Orenco engineered systems solutions within a geographic territory. The Regional Sales Engineer works within the regional sales team to assist with the design of commercial and municipal wastewater collection and treatment systems. The Regional Sales Engineer will interact regularly with our business partners (a.k.a. distributors, dealers, and suppliers) as well as designers/engineers, regulators, community leaders and other consultants and professionals. The Regional Sales Engineer will plan, direct, and coordinate with internal and external staff to ensure that company objectives for engineered system projects are met.

The Regional Sales Engineer will provide presentations to consulting engineers, utilities, municipalities, and at sate/national conferences. The Regional Sales Engineer will provide funding consultation and construction oversight and system commissioning services, as necessary. The Regional Sales Engineer will assist customers in determining individualized needs and recommending products appropriately, advise customers regarding equipment installation, usage, repair, and maintenance, and provide quality customer service in all internal and external interactions.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KRA:

  • Achieves quarterly and annual unit and revenue sales goals.
  • Achieves quarterly and annual objectives that support territory, regional, and/or company plans.
  • Educates external stakeholders.
  • Learns and demonstrates effective use of Integrity Selling.
  • Maintains and grows engineered systems opportunity pipeline.
  • Coordinates with other company staff to accomplish the work required to close sales.

> Leading

  • Demonstrates leadership within the sales department and within the organization daily.
  • Participates in all meetings and contributes ideas and opinions.
  • Improves methods for internal and customer-facing processes.
  • Volunteers and participates in team, department, and organizational initiatives.
  • Coordinates with various departments within Orenco as necessary regarding team initiatives and objectives.
  • Sets and strives to complete annual personal development goals.

> Planning

  • Develops, implements, and regularly reviews and updates quarterly and annual territory plans in conjunction with Account Manager(s).
  • Participates in establishing sales objectives for Orenco products.
  • Keeps opportunity estimated-close dates current in CRM (Customer Relations Management) to assist with manufacturing and company planning.
  • Collaborates with Regional Sales team and Systems Engineering team to develop sales strategies.

> Market Development

  • Increases the number of customers utilizing Orenco's solutions thru training seminars and presenting at tradeshows and conferences.
  • Communicates Orenco's vision and approach throughout the assigned territory.
  • Establishes relationships with key and influential stakeholders.
  • Provides timely follow-up and development of leads.

> Engineering Review

  • Guides designer/engineers in the selection of Orenco technology and design of projects.
  • Makes recommendations for the appropriate use of Orenco technologies and products.
  • Assists customers in determining needs related to the design, development, installation, and maintenance of Orenco solutions.
  • Receives and evaluates customer's system design drawings and plans, providing suggestions and making recommendations as needed.

> Reporting

  • Provides regular status updates/reports on territory plans and key objectives.
  • Thoroughly documents all tasks and customer interactions in CRM.
  • Inputs, updates, and ensures accuracy of customer contact information in CRM.
  • Maintains an accurate, up-to-date, CRM opportunity database.
  • Submits and distributes timely activity and trip reports.
  • Provides monthly updates on key and new opportunities, and competitive threats.
  • Maintains list of customer acquisition targets and reports progress monthly.
  • Becomes familiar with all Orenco-related products and technologies.
  • Becomes familiar with all state and local regulatory rules within their assigned territory.
  • Will travel to project sites to perform start up and provide installer/operator training.
  • Will occasionally perform duties of the regional sales team, systems engineering team, asset management, and customer service team.
  • Work to be done during manufacturing business hours, which may include an occasional early and/or later shift as needed. Occasional long hours may be required.
  • Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

A BS degree in engineering is required. PE is a plus.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of four years experience in water/wastewater field.
  • Ability to independently apply standard engineering practices and techniques in appropriate situations.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply engineering skills to problem solving and analysis.
  • Above average organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, courteous, customer service-oriented manner.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Skilled in delivering effective technical/informative presentations.
  • Ability to successfully interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and extreme variations in educational levels.
  • Competent ability with applications such as word-processing, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Must be willing and able to travel a minimum of 25% of the work time. Includes meeting current travel requirements with airlines as well as in final destinations. This requirement will fluctuate depending on the region assignments, market maturity, other regional resources, territory size, business needs and other objectives, and may be as much as 50 to 60% travel time.
  • Ability to adjust to priority changes and to remain calm during confrontational or high-pressure situations
  • Ability to use sound judgement and follow-through in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Must have satisfactory driving record, maintain valid drivers license, and current insurance on personal vehicle if used for business. Must meet company insurability requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primarily office environment with occasional exposure to outside elements when traveling or conducting field work. Travel requirements may/will include operation of a motor vehicle, airplane travel, and overnight stays in temporary lodging. Requires the ability to visit project sites that are situated on a variety of developed and undeveloped terrain/locations. Includes exposure to outside weather conditions and may also include occasional exposure to wastewater, requiring proper use of personal protective equipment including but not limited to gloves.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Seeing, speaking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, prolonged periods of sitting including extended time viewing a computer screen. Intermittent physical activity including standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and occasional light lifting of under 20 lb. Airplane travel and operation of a motor vehicle with the ability to visit project sites that are situated on a variety of developed and undeveloped terrain/locations.
