Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is currently seeking a full-time dynamic professional to join the Compliance Program. The position operates in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and is responsible for assisting and facilitating the Compliance Program's promotion of effective and efficient delivery of services via the review and analysis of data related to chart reviews. The ideal candidate will have experience communicating pertinent information to all levels of the department; have excellent interpersonal skills; have the ability to problem solve; and have excellent critical thinking and computer skills.

This position is responsible for:

  • Assisting and training Compliance staff on comprehensive reviews and audits of electronic health records; to include using and developing auditing tools, compiling, analyzing, and reporting audit results to senior leadership; creating and tracking corrective action plans; and providing feedback and guidance to service providers.
  • Participating and providing training in behavior support plan reviews.
  • Reviewing internal incident reports for external regulatory authority notification and internal investigations.
  • Generating quarterly summaries of incident reports utilizing excel data and charts.
  • Interacting with regulatory representatives (i.e., DBHDS Licensing Specialist and Human Rights Advocates).
  • Assisting and training Compliance staff on team-based investigations related to Virginia Human Rights complaints and root cause analyses.
  • Training Compliance staff on investigations, behaviors support plan reviews, comprehensive file reviews, and licensure and human rights visits.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Management, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field; two (2) years of related work experience in mental health, substance abuse, and/or developmental services field in the public sector or similar field serving adults and youth with mental health, substance use, and/or intellectual/developmental needs including one (1) year of experience conducting health and human services investigations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:
  • Master's Degree; Virginia Qualified Mental Health Professional; Working knowledge of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), HIPAA, Virginia Medicaid regulations.
  • Training from a DBHDS provider in human rights investigations.
  • Experience completing internal audits of health records for compliance with DBHDS, DMAS, and other regulatory authorities.
  • Experience conducting DBHDS human rights investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with electronic health records, databases, and excel reporting.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health and developmental services assessment techniques, diagnosis, person-centered treatment planning techniques, and clinical documentation
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment background check to include fingerprinting, credit, NCIC, DMV, and TB test. Must have a good driving record and a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.

Special Requirements:

  • From home and on a rotating basis, this position provides occasional weekend and holiday Incident Management System monitoring and required reporting.
