Shipping & Receiving Clerk

The Shipping-Receiving Clerk is responsible for processing and maintaining records relative to shipping and receiving of goods.

Job Summary
  • Process all necessary paperwork needed for outside processing, final shipments, and returned goods.
  • Accumulates all necessary certifications/documents needed for final shipments.
  • Prioritize workload so that delays are minimized or eliminated; must be aware of priorities and execute accordingly.
  • Coordinates with outside processing suppliers as needed.
  • Coordinates stock adjustments and follows buy-off procedures.
  • Process paperwork associated with receiving of goods.
  • Verifies supplier certifications and/or supporting documents requirements are met.
  • Determines shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
  • Schedules shipments with LTL truck lines and air freight carriers as needed.
  • Coordinates with Production Control and Accounts Payables on authorized expedite charges.
  • Files claims with truck line upon receipt of damaged goods and follows up with Accounts Payable for payment problems.
  • Confers and corresponds with established representative to rectify problems such as damages, shortages and nonconformance to specifications.
  • Ability to issue work orders from dispatch listing.
  • Downloads and maintains min-max spreadsheets and portal data from customers as needed or required.
  • Updates sales tracking data daily.
  • Maintains dispatch list to aid internal customers.
  • Scans shipping-receiving documents and work orders into database and files accordingly.
  • Distributes shipping documents to other departments.
  • Attends productions meetings as scheduled.
  • Ability to create, track and trend KPI data.
  • Ability to present department KPI board to coworkers.
  • Available as needed for helping in receiving and dock activities.
  • Proficient at mentoring other clerks with evaluating and resolving process issues.
  • Ability to train incoming operators to ensure they are at 45-90day requirements
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Basic Computer Skills: Able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance

Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have good finger dexterity - lots of computer data entry.
  • Working conditions are:85% office environment, 15% manufacturing environment.
  • Noise level is moderate in office environment.
  • Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.
  • Hearing protection must be worn in designated areas.
  • Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear.
