Accountant - Columbus

LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking to an experienced accountant with construction industry experience. This position is located just north of Downtown Columbus and is Direct Hire. Pay for this role will range between $55K and $70K annually depending on experience and education.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Generate financial reports for management to aid in decision-making processes.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, verifying expenses, and issuing payments in a timely manner.
• Oversee accounts receivable activities, including invoicing clients, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
• Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts for construction projects.
• Monitor project costs and expenditures to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
• Track costs related to labor, materials, equipment, and overhead expenses for construction projects.
• Analyze cost variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting.
• Prepare and file tax returns, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax filings.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors as necessary to ensure compliance and minimize tax liabilities.
• Process payroll for up to twenty employees
• Responsible for some light HR duties including Benefits administration.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
