Job Summary: The System Administrator - Senior is largely responsible for providing operational oversight and support services to the organization. We are looking to have a highly competent and highly motivated individual in this role. This is an Enterprise Operations Support role, as such it will require a commitment on your part as well as ours. Essential Functions: Windows 2008/2012/2016/2019 Administration: Administer and maintain Hyper-V hypervisor, servers, and server-based applications software and be responsible for the sustainment of physical and virtual servers. Perform all routine operations related to the administration and maintenance of servers - modification to memory, storage and network configurations. Build systems in accordance with current policies and procedure. Provide consultative sessions with customers and data center staff to ensure proper build specifications and configurations. Provide recommendations to improve process and procedures to ensure continuous improvement. Analyze and troubleshoot systems using PowerShell scripts and other troubleshooting and monitoring tools. Modify and configure system based firewalls using TCP and UDP assignments. Advice and represent as a principal technical point of contact for coordination and resolution of Windows 2008/20012/20016/2019 and LINUX system administration issues. Provide capacity planning and management for computer systems. Provide input to improve operation and resource management. Additional functions and responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, patching of operating systems, applications, and remediation of known security vulnerabilities. System Security and Vulnerability Management:​ Provide analysis and remediation steps to customers and data center staff regarding U.S. CERT vulnerabilities impacting Windows, LINUX, and Docker environments. Utilize Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department of Interior (DOI) Continuous Diagnostic Mitigation (CDM) tools to monitor, identify, and evaluate risk of flaws or threats. Perform all security patches for services using SCCM, IEM, and other systems as recommended by vendor(s) and security bulletins on a weekly basis or as directed by NPS management. Update and maintain NPS Patch Management Process document. Storage Management and Sustainment: Analyze and maintain storage environment to ensure optimal performance through the proper use of block size management. Provide capacity planning and management for storage systems. Provide input to improve operation and resource management through capacity planning and storage allocations. Support operational and backup storage requirements. Maintenance and Utilization of Ticketing Systems: Log server hardware and software problems and resolutions using the Footprints Service Desk system in accordance with Data Center operating procedures. Respond to customer requests for changes to systems, applications, databases in accordance with Data Center operating procedures. Assign and distribute work load in ticketing system. System Backup and Recovery Administration: Configure and maintain backup and recovery as specified by government. Provide recommendations to improve backup and recovery system to ensure compliance with government disaster recovery policies. Perform and/or schedule all system backups for multiple network servers including the Windows 2008/2012/2016/2019 servers, Linux and Windows platforms, Web services software, and other servers in accordance with established policies and procedures. Perform routine analysis and integrity checks with regards to system, data and database backups. Provide customer support for data restoration. Respond to user requests for file restorations and file archiving. Maintain log sets and provide copies of logs upon request. Monitor and maintain the performance of the backup systems. Write and maintain documentation of backup policies, procedures, and SOPs. Data Center Administration: Maintain optimal data center operations with proper installation, cabling, and network connections. Maintain accurate inventory and diagrams of equipment and respond to data calls such as quarterly Data Center Consolidation Initiative (DCOI) inventories. Ensure procedures are in place for the storage, retrieval, use, and archiving of data assets (data elements, records, files, databases, reports, etc.). Monitoring Systems: Maintain monitoring and alerting thresholds to ensure optimized operations and system availability. Create custom NOC and Operational views for customers and data center staff. Maintain accurate and complete system inventory list(s) of physical and virtual servers reports. Utilize and respond to alerting from monitoring systems to include ensuring critical and other warnings are properly addressed and customers are informed of changes to systems through Footprints ticketing system. Technical consultative support Provide technical solutions resulting in cost savings and efficiencies in operations. Conduct market research, obtaining quotes, and providing procurement assistance of IT equipment supporting the data center. Advise and represent as a principal technical point of contact for coordination and resolution of Windows 2008/2012/2016/2019 and LINUX system administration issues. Provide qualitative and quantitative training and mentoring to data center staff. Knowledge Requirements: Advanced understanding of Windows 2008/2012/2016/2019 administration, system security and vulnerability management, storage management and sustainment, system backup and recovery administration, data center administration, ticketing systems, and monitoring systems Education: Bachelor's degree in a computer support-related field. Experience may be used to substitute for a degree. Experience: 5-7 years of current or relevant experience Experience including technical support, operations, and training within an enterprise support environment.
