ASM GLOBAL, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Senior National Sales Manager at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The Senior National Sales Manager is responsible for the sales and contracting of events to maximize Convention Center revenue and occupancy. The Senior National Sales Manager will achieve business goals set by the Director of Sales for both room nights and revenue.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the Director of Sales in the development and implementation of sales strategies to secure new business for Greater Columbus Convention Center within their market segment. Establishes space assignment and pricing for all prospective events in their assigned market segment. Generate Convention Center proposals and definite bookings for assigned market segments through initiative-taking sales calls, presentations, prospecting, and site tours that lead to securing business. Lead generation to focus directly on leads less than 18 months. Leads requiring more than 550 rooms on peak night will be worked in conjunction with the Collaborative Model with Experience Columbus sales manager partner(s). Participates in the activities of various industry associations and meetings, establishing and maintaining contact with potential event organizers, educate them on the advantages of hosting their events at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Conduct site tours with Experience Columbus sales team with meeting planners whose groups will utilize the facility. Conduct contract procedures, negotiations, revisions and addendums compliant with ASM Global policies and procedures. Solicit convention and tradeshow business directly and jointly with Experience Columbus and area hotels through the preparation and execution of marketing and action plans. Prepare proposals, bid letters and contracts as needed. Oversees the preparation and approval processes of bid proposals and contracts for prospective events for Sales Managers as directed. Maintain knowledge of destination, area attractions, airport, public transportation and all aspects necessary to help secure business. Maintain positive working relationship with internal customers and partners such as in-house production company, food service provider, internet provider and decorator. Attend tradeshows, conventions, sales missions, and local networking meetings to solicit business. Ability to travel out of state as frequent and as needed base on the Center’s business needs and approved company sales travel schedule. Initiates client entertainment, appreciation programs, and attends industry trade shows and conventions, and other miscellaneous opportunities aimed at client retention. Upon securing an event, coordinate and follow up with convention center event coordinator, operations, and food service provider to ensure a seamless transition into the event planning stage of the business. Maintain and report to Director of Sales, monthly goals and achievements related to tentative and contracted business. Assists the Director of Sales on recruiting, hiring, training and evaluation of the team. Assists the Director of Sales on training new/current members with facility partner organizations (Experience Columbus, Greater Columbus Sport Commission and partnering hotels) Must have the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous and polite manner. This will include initiating contact with guests within 10 feet – i.e., smiling, saying “Good Day” or helping when needed. Must feel comfortable when around large groups or speaking to a guest, as needed. Understands the importance of providing customer service and in understanding of “The Magic is in the Details.” Assume oversight of the Sales Department in the absence of the Director of Sales All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong customer service, organizational and communication skills are required. Strong skills in both written/oral communications. Excellent time management. Must have strong working knowledge of computer systems and related software applications, specifically Microsoft Office. Understanding of financial Profit & Loss Statements to provide the best scenario for clients while maintaining profitability for the convention center. Contract negotiations. Ability to work in a CRM (customer relationship module) Ungerboeck experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the hospitality field or a related field on a national level is preferred. Good customer service skills and cheerful outlook. Initiative-taker and collaborative. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Hospitality or related field preferred as well as CMP certification. Flexibility and ability to prioritize responsibilities in an ever-changing work environment are critical as this job may require travel, working weekends and evenings.
