Position Summary

The Stewarding Supervisor is responsible for the cleanliness of kitchen(s) and food preparation areas. This Supervisor is responsible for inventory control of all stewarding department supplies. The Stewarding Supervisor will supervise, train and inspect the performance of Team Members in the kitchens and dish rooms.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise assigned staff, including providing training and coaching, and supervise assigned team and ensure work is performed correctly and efficiently
  • Oversee the shift and Stewarding staff, ensuring and maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas; create and coordinate deep cleaning schedule
  • Prepare and distribute assignments to Stewards while reviewing priorities and ensuring health standards are met
  • Ensure that assigned areas, kitchens and equipment are in good working order to ensure a clean and hazard-free workplace that complies with the Department of Health, OSHA and hotel standards
  • Monitor and document department for items that are below standards and not functioning properly
  • Create orders for repairs by Engineering
  • Oversee maintenance of all machinery and equipment in stewarding department
  • Assist and support Stewarding Manager with administrative duties and compliance
  • Communicate openly with the stewarding team and keep staff informed of all important information to assist them in their job
  • Maintain orderliness at all times
  • Take inventory of all supplies and report to Stewarding Manager

Education and Work Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent

At least 2 years of progressive supervisory experience in a hotel/catering or a related field preferred

Previous hospitality industry experience preferred

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

ServSafe California Food Handler Card

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Facilitate collaboration and cooperation between BOH and FOH teams and engage with stewards and culinary staff in a team-oriented environment
  • Assist in conducting regular associate/departmental meetings and lead stewarding team by providing regular coaching and counseling
  • Assist in supervising stewarding employees, ensuring they value guest service and are committed to high standards of performance
