We have any opening for a Rework Forklift Operator on Day Shift


Summary

Performs a variety of duties in the warehouse. Safely operates forklift in performance of many job duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Operates a forklift to load and unload finished production, completed rework, red carded product, receive in materials on outside carriers, tamper evident banding, stretch wrap, spices and emulsions, etc. both at the plant warehouse and downtown warehouses as needed.

Operates a forklift to load and unload finished goods going to the Distribution Center or any other of our finished goods storage warehouses.

Operates forklift always at a reasonable and prudent speed, watching closely for pedestrians or other motorized vehicles.

Completes pre-operational checklist each day before operating lift. Reports all forklift damage or malfunction to Supervisor.

Verify all packaging materials and ensure the quantity is enough to complete the production schedule.

Use scan gun and production schedule to stage materials in proper order at staging locations.

Receive and return materials to proper locations with scan gun. Document all material movements and provide support to warehouse clerk and supervisor.

Have the ability to receive email and follow instruction through email.

Maintains and reports accurately data for all merchandise movement. Uses hand-held radio frequency scanner to record and document transfers of items into computerized warehouse management system.

Shrink-wraps pallets of goods before shipment.

Counts and reports to Supervisor the finished goods packed on the previous shifts. Receives from Supervisor the designated warehouse to send the goods to.

Must be knowledgeable in our red card system, SQF holds and how to properly count finished cases and pallets, as well as understand our MUID tags to help manage day-to-day movement and cycle counts.

Keeps work area clean and orderly.

Follows safety rules and company policies.

Other Duties

Cleans the floor of warehouse, trailers, loading docks, and exterior areas around warehouse.

Hand stacks cases of finished goods on pallet as needed.

Restack damaged pallets of finish goods.

Shrink-wraps pallets of goods before shipment.

Delivers incoming merchandise received by the warehouse to proper department.

Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.

Pull all QC samples as needed and directed by QC supervisor.

Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.


Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Certified forklift operator. High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Ability to read and write in English needed. Basic understanding of addition, subtraction, and the multiplication table required.

Forklift, Stretch Wrap Machine, Calculator, Air Hose, Knife RF Scanners, Steel Toed Shoes.

Physical Demands

Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a high position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound.

Sitting: on forklift for short or long periods of time to move product, materials, etc.

The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.

The worker is required to have eye/hand/foot coordination to operate forklift.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Work Environment

Works inside warehouse and plant, subject to significant seasonal temperature variations. Fumes from forklifts. Some contact with dust, oil, ink, and grease.
