Position Title: Pediatric LPN or MA

Department: Valor Health EMC and UC

Supervisor: Office Manager or Department Supervisor


  1. Position Summary: This position prepares and assists physician/provider in the examination and treatment of pediatric patients in the medical office and must be available to assist and follow the provider’s orders.
  2. Principal Functions and Responsibilities
  3. Perform well-baby checks, well-child checks, including growth charts, immunizations, and IRIS look ups.
  4. Call patients into rooms for examinations. Perform weight check, height measurement, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration readings as needed.
  5. Record and obtain patient's symptoms, make observations, listen, answer questions, and reassure.
  6. Obtain past medical history and family history as appropriate. Review current medication and review patient allergies.
  7. Record all of the above in the patient's chart, and sign.
  8. Assist physicians and physician assistants with examinations as necessary. Lift patients on and off exam tables and in and out of wheelchairs.
  9. Set up procedures to be done, i.e., remove lesions, suture wounds, cast fractures, dress burns.
  10. Explain procedures to patients and instruct on follow-up care.
  11. Give therapeutic injections, 1M and subcutaneous injections as ordered by providers, as well as allergy injections.
  12. Irrigate ears, change dressings on wounds, test eyes, and perform any standing orders predetermined by the provider, including but not limited to UAs, strep tests, etc.
  13. Handle phone calls. Listen, reassure, advise, and reinforce what the physician or PA has told them. Call pharmacies with prescription refills.
  14. Call patients with reports, report explanations, and make referral appointments.
  15. Complete insurance pre-authorizations for referrals and prescribed medicines.
  16. Generally, keep exam rooms clean and organized. Keep supplies, equipment, and instruments in place and ready for use.
  17. Provide specific diets as ordered by physicians.
  18. Review patient's medical record.
  19. Remain at clinic, available to physicians and physician assistants, until all patients have been cared for.
  20. Vaccine for Children program experience.
  21. Other duties as assigned.
  22. Position Qualifications
  23. Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent, Medical Assistant school or nursing school.
  24. Preferred Minimum Experience and Skills: 2 years pediatric clinical experience.
  25. Preferred: Certification / Registration CMA RMA or Current Idaho LPN License
  26. Physical Requirement: Sitting and working at a computer keyboard, walking, lifting, reaching, hand eye coordination, speaking.
