Job Description
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), founded in 1803, is Ohio's 3rd largest sheriff's office. The HR Coordinator provides integral support to the HR team and all our employees. The successful candidate will provide daily support for several critical human resources functions, including employee changes and HRIS recordkeeping, workers' compensation, benefits administration, policy and procedure, leave of absence administration, and employee relations.
Duties:
- Verifies and processes various agency benefit forms, reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy (i.e., Workers' Compensation, retirement, unemployment, health care coverage, etc.); reviews, verifies and processes data necessary for completion of biweekly payroll, ensuring compliance with agency policy, local and federal laws (i.e., compensatory time earned/used, overtime, OIL, etc.); assists with annual health care open enrollment; maintains various files (i.e., sick leave, vacation, etc.).
- Processes and ensures timely completion of forms; compiles various statistical reports; maintains information of a confidential nature; assists in the processing of new employees (i.e., employee orientation, creation of employee files, distributing agency information, etc.).
- Counsels agency personnel regarding various matters (i.e., compensation, medical benefits/claims, agency policies, procedures, etc.), reproduces and distributes handouts, directives, etc.
- Performs various related clerical functions (monitors and corrects daily timecards, overtime, comp earned entries and reports, holiday lists, offer letters, correspondence, etc.); processes employment verifications and student loan forgiveness; runs reports and maintains integrity and confidentiality of data.
- Ensures adequate inventory of office supplies; assists in preparing a budget; attends meetings or seminars; may perform other duties or assist other employees as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- A minimum of Two years of HR experience or an associate degree with one year of HR experience.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred and/or desire to grow in the HR Profession and willingness to work toward professional credentials.
- General Human Resources Knowledge, including Recruiting, HR Regulatory Federal and State compliance laws (e.g., EEO, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, ACA, and Title VII);
- This position requires a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work under pressure and cope with deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and time management.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience with Paycor is a plus+
- Previous experience with an Applicant Tracking System a plus+
- Must have reliable transposition.
- An insurable driving record is required.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management systems.
- Ability to calculate fractions, decimals & percentages.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, officials, and the general public.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
