The Dental Director is responsible for oversight of clinical management and review activities in accordance with individual member plans and clinical review guidelines. They are responsible for improving the quality and efficiency of oral healthcare in their respective program and are responsible for organizing all assigned dental professionals towards functional objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains a collegial relationship with contracted and affiliate dentists to support the business efforts of the organization
  • Grievance and Appeals - maintains an active liaison with Dental Consultants, reviews dental and medical/dental cases, and oversees the representation of the plan at State-level Fair Hearings as requested
  • Works with Quality Director to implement state specific clinical initiatives and ensures that processes and procedures are aligned with the business model
  • Drives improvement of quality indicators by identifying, directing, and executing continuous quality improvement activities or processes
  • Participates in Committees, as needed
  • Collaborates with Business Operations and Provider Relations staff
  • Partnering with the Clinical Affordability team to support new innovative approaches to making healthcare more efficient and meaningful to dentists and patients alike
  • Developing and cascading clinical outcome/improvement messaging to cross-functional teams to foster tighter working culture
  • Assist driving aligned performance in the dental provider network through the development of meaningful relationships, financial and quality incentives, best practices, forward thinking solutions to improve our value proposition to dental providers
  • Assist in the identification and development of current/new best practices in support of continuous financial and quality improvement
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate experience in direct patient care
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)
  • OH Dental License
  • 5+ years of clinical experience
  • 3+ years of managed care experience
  • Must reside in the state of Ohio

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current board certification, if applicable
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
