Georgia-Pacific is now hiring Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our Lumber facility in Talladega, AL! SIGN-ON BONUS AVAILABLE!

Salary:
  • Our starting pay is at $26.00 - $ 36.00/hr. depending on experience.
  • $ 5.00/hour shift premium for any hours worked Friday - Sunday (overtime rules apply).
  • You will have the ability to increase your compensation based on skills and contribution to the overall performance of the mill.


Shift: Day Shift, 10-12-hour shift/day.
  • Only candidates who are flexible and available to work any shift will be considered. This will include overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed.
  • The week of orientation will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and you will be assigned your regular shift after your orientation.

What You Will Do

• The Mobile Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for providing scheduled maintenance responsibilities to include cleaning using compressed air and/or pressure washing, complete lube changes, filter services, and brake adjustments on all plant rolling stock, and maintain records of all maintenance performed.
  • Perform major and minor repairs and maintenance on all rolling stock to include dismantling, overhauling, and assembling rolling stock equipment and machinery.
  • Performing maintenance responsibilities such as blowing off rolling stock with compressed air and/or pressure washing, complete lube changes, oil changes, filter services, and brake adjustments.
  • Checking vehicle fluids, tires, air filters, and engine coolant and make general repairs when necessary.
  • Shadowing Mobile Equipment Mechanic to gain knowledge and develop skills.
  • Maintaining clean and orderly housekeeping standards in the mobile shop and maintenance work areas.

• Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures and actively participating in the safety program.
  • Support operations efficiency through troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Researching parts in equipment manuals and submitting work orders in a computerized maintenance management program.
  • Communicating daily work performed and machine conditions via written and verbal documentation.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Prior experience as heavy equipment mechanic
  • Experience reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
  • Experience diagnosing and rebuilding power train components including internal combustion engines, transmissions, and final drive components


What Will Put You Ahead
  • Three (3) years or more of mobile equipment or millwright experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Technical diploma or higher
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other PC-based production reporting systems applications.
