Position: Senior Offensive Duty Officer (SODO) OR Senior Air Defense Officer (SADO)

Location: Hurlburt Field, FL

Experience: 5 years minimum, broken down as follows:

· Minimum of 3 years progressive AOC experience working as a Combat Operations Duty Officer (examples- FDO, SEAD DO, TCT Chief, Interdiction DO, CAS DO) and culminating as SODO or CCO.

· Plus a minimum of 2 years as Offensive Operations Team Mentor, Offensive Operations White Cell member or AOC Combat Ops Instructor.

Knowledge: The SME must know the doctrinal processes of each position that doctrinally falls under the SODO position IAW AFTTP 3-3. These include, but are not limited to CASDO, INTDO, BDO, CSAR, TST, EW/SEAD, tanker and IO, and have an understanding of the rest of the AOC positions interacting with the SODO and subordinate cells. The SME may need to replicate one or all positions as appropriate during exercise execution. The SME must be proficient in the Falconer Weapon System and a Subject Matter Expert in the use of all common tools used on an AOC Ops floor.

Description:

· Shall be required to attend planning conferences as the AOC RC representative. May be tasked as the LNO at forward exercise locations to support the AOC RC.

· The SME will ensure timely and effective use of ATO assigned assets. Manage/monitor assets and assesses how changes/deviations affect the ATO. When changes are required, the SME researches available options and makes necessary adjustments. Ensure that any change to mission tasking is coordinated with affected external agencies or internal replication positions. Receive and process immediate ASRs. Provide operational expertise concerning the loss/degradation of capability, tactics, threat areas and use of assets.

· The SME may perform duties of the Chief of Combat Ops (CCO) if required by the COR. When performing CCO duties, the SME will monitor MSEL injects during exercise execution and coordinates with the Joint Exercise Control Group (JECG) when necessary to ensure training objectives are met. Will coordinate modification of the ATO/ACO products to the exercise audience and AOC replication cells to ensure air component mission success. Will work closely with the air, space, and cyber “fly out” replication cell to ensure seamless and transparent replication to the training audience during exercise execution.

 

SADO requirements:

Experience: NAF-level experience is required, and AFFOR, MAJCOM Staff experience is desired.

3 years minimum, broken down as follows:

· 3 years as AOC SADO, SADO Mentor or Instructor (M)

· 3 Years R/SADC level team leader (E-3, NORAD, CRC, service equivalent OR A/A aircraft commander flight lead with DCA experience).

Computer Experience: Ability to use Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro are both required.

Knowledge:

The SME must have in-depth, understanding of the following:

· Current Integrated Air and Missile Defense doctrine and TTPs

· An understanding of the duties and functions of the AADC in theater warfare

· A familiarity with the capabilities and functions of the AAMDC

· An understanding of current AOC SADO team duties and responsibilities as well as R/SADC duties

· Familiarity with the duties and functions of the CCO, SODO, Dynamic Targeting Cell and subordinate duty officers

· Understanding of the Area Air Defense Plan, form, functions and planning methodology with emphasis on the development of Critical Asset and Defended Asset lists.

Description:

Duties include but are not limited to:

· The SME must know the details of doctrinal AOC defensive operations cell processes and is the AADC’s representative charged with executing theater air and missile defense if required in the exercise. The SME manages all theater C2 assets, with some exceptions, and theater defense operations. The SME will coordinate with WOCs, Air Battle Managers, BCD, TMDO, ADA liaison, SOLE, NALE and MARLE personnel, Space and ISR representatives if present or represented in the exercise. For most AOC RC events, the SME is the only defensive team member and may be required to replicate the full scope of defensive team responsibilities. The SME will work closely with the air, space, and cyber “fly out” replication cell or other white force members to accurately and effectively support training audience requirements and exercise execution. Will address the following as required by training audience needs and replication/white cell participation by external or internal audiences.

· Recommend changes in the air defense status, in coordination with the Theater Missile Defense Officer (TMDO) and the BCD, to the training audience.

· Will coordinate with the TMDO in overseeing the execution/notification of theater ballistic missile warning and response.

· Ensures communications/coordination is maintained with subordinate C2 agencies, RADC and SADC.

· Overall control authority for the Air Defense Command and Control Net (ADCCN).

· Maintain situational awareness of the enemy air/ground threat. Assess available fighter and air defense missile assets, and coordinate as necessary to obtain sufficient air defense resources.

· Coordinate with tactical C2 elements (Control and Reporting Center (CRC), Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS), E-2, Tactical Air Operations Center (TAOC), Aegis Cruiser (Red Crown) to obtain optimum radio and radar coverage and CAP coverage.
