Job Summary:

In our work based learning and/or apprenticeship program, the goal is to prepare students/incumbent workers to learn the manufacturing trade, under the guidance of a job trainer or experienced Machinists by performing a number of work assignments, such as set up and operate CNC milling machines, safely operate machinery and equipment and use safe practices when working with electrical, mechanical, or other equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Determines sequence of operations by studying blueprints, specifications, and the job plan of each specific item code program.
  • Prepares machine for production by positioning stops, guides, and utilization of vacuum chucks.
  • Regulates machining by setting and adjusting controls.
  • Produces parts by running programs for specific item codes, reference points on work piece with rule, compass, template, etc.; positioning or aligning work piece against stops and guides; operating equipment.
  • Maintains specifications by observing operations; detecting malfunctions; inspecting parts; adjusting controls.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
