Direct Support Professional: DSP's support people with disabilities in having a life meaningful to them.

Full-Time, $19.83 - $21.12/hour average pay

It's a full-time position that barely feels like a part-time job. And we know working on Saturday is not ideal for many, but that's way we pay 1.5x base rate of pay for weekend hours you are scheduled.

Hill & Dales is a non-profit organization dedicated to building meaningful lived for people with disabilities. We are seeking Direct Support Professionals to support children and/or adults with intellectual and physical disabilities!

As a Direct Support Professional, you will partner and work alongside clients who need support to accomplish their needs, wants, and dreams in life. A lot of the work is assisting with activities of daily life (getting dressed, bathing, toileting, eating, shopping). The flip side is accompanying people in pursuit of a life meaningful to them. Hitting up ball games, concerts, entertainment and work opportunities are examples of client interest that all woven into this position. There are two primary settings where we need DSP's. Either at our Residential Center OR within our Community Based Supported Living program. Depending on your preferences, strengths and interests we can talk about what would be an ideal fit.

Some duties include (see full job description attached for more):*

  • Bathing, toileting, hygiene support (lifting required with support of lifts) and supporting exercise and mobility
  • Documenting on client progress toward goals in their personal plans. Strong communicating and coordinating with teams and others to support clients in the most effective way.
  • Accompanying clients to outings and events they are interested in and even supporting work-skills development
  • Monitoring environments for potential hazards and risks and supporting clients in navigating these
  • Assisting clients in expressing their feelings and emotions in appropriate ways. Supporting challenging behavior if necessary.
  • Following detailed plans and instructions related to diet, medications, behavioral support etc.

Some qualifications include:

  • Evident concern for others and the mission of Hills & Dales and not afraid to communicate and advocate for clients and residents
  • Ability to arrive to work when scheduled and on time
  • Ability to life 35 lbs and a valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and valid insurance limits
  • Must successfully pass criminal background check, drug screen, and driving record check

Available schedules:

  • 12-13 hour shifts between 5AM and 8PM (Days)
  • 12-13 hours shifts between 5PM and 8AM (Nights)
  • We have other schedules if TH, FR, SA is not an option.
  • Most schedules require 1 weekend shift but we have some week day only schedules; these pay a bit lower.
  • Ability to trade shifts without using PTO is generally acceptable; this allows for many days off with no use of PTO.
