We are currently recruiting for a Seasonal Research Technician to support our Science & Conservation department for the 2024 summer season (through September.)

The Seasonal Research Technician will assist with collecting and entering data related to habitat restoration studies through vegetation monitoring and occasional wildlife monitoring, assist with technical report writing, and assist with conducting routine land management tasks, greenhouse care, and educational programming.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt, seasonal position with an hourly rate of $17.00.

The position will remain open until filled.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in Land Conservation research efforts by collecting and entering data related to habitat restoration studies through vegetation monitoring and occasional wildlife monitoring.
  • Maintain detailed data collection records and accurately record observations in the field.
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of study findings through reports, abstracts, posters, interpretive materials, and other written and/or visual deliverables.
  • Support establishment of new conservation related studies in Arboretum natural areas.
  • Regularly participate in land management activities including invasive species control, herbicide application, project maintenance, mowing, native plantings, and daily greenhouse operations.
  • Contribute to educational events that support The Arboretum’s mission.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of college-level education in ecosystems restoration, conservation, ecology, botany, or related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of central Ohio flora identification.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to regularly work weekends, occasional holidays, and evenings as scheduled.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically strenuous work.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
