Summary / Objective

The Process Accountant is an integral member of both the Finance Department and the manufacturing site with responsibility for inventory accounting, monthly manufacturing close, analysis of variances, and the standard setting process. The Process Accountant will work closely with the Corporate Accounting Manager and the Plant Manager as well as operations personnel providing accurate and timely data on cost as well as budget support.

Essential Functions

Essential job functions for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Physical presence at the worksite during all assigned work shifts.
  • Ability to wear required PPE.
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of inventory and cost accounting systems and procedures.
  • Manage all Bill of Materials and process all inventory related transactions within ERP system in addition to processing all revenue related transactions.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting process and development of forecasts and management of fixed assets.
  • Key contributor in the development of standard costs and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the Companys standard cost and inventory valuation systems and procedures.

  • Follow standards for testing protocols and labeling of products.

Back-up

In the absence of the Process Accountant, the duties of the position will be filled by the Director of Plant Accounting or delegated by the Director of Plant Accounting to a competent Accounting Representative.

Requirements: (education, skills and abilities)
  • Associate degree in accounting or another business-related field is required; Bachelors degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in cost accounting with responsibility for setting standard costs and analyzing manufacturing variances.
  • Fermentation or biotech experience preferred.
  • Advanced abilities in Excel and database management.
  • Proven knowledge of US GAAP, accounting principles, practices, standards, and regulations.
  • Experience with ERP systems required; experience with ERP system implementation and Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and collaborate with staff at all organizational levels across various business units is required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.
  • Travel is not expected with this position.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Required to have the ability to express communication verbally.

Working Environment:
  • Indoor office environment with a desk on the third floor accessible using outdoor stairs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the teammate is occasionally exposed to the manufacturing areas, fumes, or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment can frequently be loud and will require hearing protection in designated areas.
  • The plant production environment will include occasional exposure to hot or cold environment conditions, dependent upon weather.
  • Occasional exposure to magnetic fields in designated areas on production floor.
