Who You Are:

As a Retail Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, planning and scheduling the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, services, supplies, finished goods and related materials through the production and inventory process. This includes analyzing data, placing orders, forecasting sales, reviewing invoices, reconciling accounts, and identifying new opportunities as they arise. You must work with vendors consistently to build a strong relationship, resulting in lasting partnerships and deals.

What You'll Do:

  • Analyze reports and data to make the best decisions
  • Driving the strategic direction of the area with the goal to make Curaleaf the most compelling place for our customers to shop by focusing on Pricing, Assortment, Brands and Promotion
  • Utilizing internal and external market information to anticipate trends and future customer needs to drive brand and item selection.
  • Visiting stores (both Curaleaf and competition) regularly to proactively understand assortments, pricing and promotion presentation
  • Performing competitive analysis to understand what decisions need to be made to ensure Curaleaf stays at the top of the competition
  • Determining mix and category position profile and assigns a role to each category
  • Driving the category review process and making recommendations based on analysis
  • Working with team to develop and approve master product assortment
  • Determining pricing strategy for category / product that maintains Curaleaf's pricing integrity, drives sales, and gross margin dollars
  • Reviewing pricing analysis to determine optimal pricing
  • Determining promotional price based on competition, seasonality, and events
  • Collaborating with Inventory Manager on inventory needs to support promotional strategy
  • Collaborating with the supply chain team to ensure inventory optimization
  • Evaluating marketing effectiveness and leading changes to drive increases over prior year
  • Approving markdown strategy that ties to plan
  • Informing and elevating markdowns that do not tie to plan to Regional SVP
  • Seeking and partnering with reliable vendors and suppliers; negotiating with vendors for best pricing and promotional support
  • Using analysis to drive assortment, pricing, and promotional placement decisions
  • Utilizing industry information to drive brand and item selection focusing on internal mix and competition
  • Creating a bottoms up plan to meet total area financial targets
  • When applicable, mentoring, training, and developing Business Analysts and Associate Buyers

What You'll Bring

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree; or equivalent retail experience
  • 3-6 years of experience in an Associate Buyer/Buyer
  • 3+ years of experience in the retail industry
  • Buying, inventory management and analysis experience required
  • Knowledge of the market, retail business and customers
  • Knowledge of business drivers (e.g. pricing, promotion, assortment).
  • Financial Planning skills
  • Negotiations skills
  • Sense of product trends
  • Enthusiasm, Initiative and Passion
  • Office computer skills; able to learn company systems and tools, preference for Microsoft application experience
  • Dutchie, Tableau, LeafTrade experience a plus
