Job Overview
The Chef Instructor is responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair assessment of learning, documenting student progress, and support of the academic success for at-risk students. This is a year-round position.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Teach assigned courses.
- Provide each student with course expectations, evaluations, topical outlines, and standardized syllabus.
- Provide relevant assignments for students that demonstrate real-life settings.
- Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons.
- Provide the challenge, engagement and communication with students to encourage participation and learning.
- Maintain the respect, value and dignity of each student.
- Complete grade books, final grade sheets and exams, learning assessments on a timely basis.
- Fill in as a substitute as needed.
- Complete delivery of course and learning outcomes are delivered as per course syllabus.
- Ensure the safety and sanitation of kitchen including equipment and supplies.
- Monitor the performance of kitchen equipment.
- Maintain and post office hours.
- Assist director in program evaluation and planning.
- Attend graduation ceremonies.
- Mentoring of new faculty as needed.
- Maintain an open dialogue with Lead Chef.
Qualifications
Culinary Degree/Certificate, AOS, AAS required.
Bachelor's degree in culinary arts or hospitality preferred.
Certified Culinary Educator (CCE) preferred.
ServSafe certificate
Food Handlers card
Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience
Strong organizational skills
Experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Proficient in written communication and oral presentations
