Job Description

Position Overview

Quaker Safety & Security Specialist works cooperatively with all departments and Quaker committees to promote a safe and secure working environment for all Quaker employees and guests. The individual in this position also enforces security regulations. This is a night shift position working 3:30pm-midnight with possible overtime hours as needed.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guard industrial property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by way of patrolling buildings, property; examining and securing doors, windows, and gates.
  • Execution, planning, and enhancement of all Quaker hazards policies and plans (including but not limited to fire, weather, intruder, and active shooter).
  • Serve as a liaison with local, county, district, and state first responders regarding matters relating to Quaker including, but not limited to, emergency responses, medical emergencies, sounding hazard notification systems, and unruly and/or unauthorized people.
  • Work closely with Safety and Medical team in supporting and promoting a safe and secure workplace.
  • Serve as security to ensure any departing personnel matters end professionally and mitigate any incidents that may arise, enforcement of proper identification for authorized entry onto property, enforce infractions of rules for both employees and visitors, and assist visitors with legitimate need to entry to facility.
  • Proactively patrol buildings and grounds to assess for unauthorized presence, abandoned vehicles, unsecured doors, and/or other risk hazards.
  • Assure that all doors are lockable and properties can be adequately secured.
  • Monitor parking lots.
  • Monitor and assist with treatment of walkways and parking areas during inclement weather.
  • Inspect and maintain safety equipment such as eyewash stations, as needed.
  • Conduct inspections and complete proper documentation for fire, equipment and machinery operation and malfunctions, general plant safety, property damage, unusual occurrences
  • Assist with COVID-related sanitization protocols and PPE - Personal Protective Equipment identification and distribution.
  • Conduct investigations and complete professional documentation when called upon to do so.
  • Provide training in any current and expansion of the Quaker security team.
  • Escort personnel to vehicles upon request.
  • Respond to and assist with emergency security, safety, and medical situations as needed.
  • Transport injured workers for urgent care medical treatment.
  • Conduct reasonable suspicion drug testing and breathalyzers.
  • Communicate daily with Safety & Security Supervisor to promote continuity of information and security services.
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
  • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
  • Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
  • Communicate via email, prepare reports and work schedules.
  • Plan, prioritize and monitor inspections
  • Review and analyze data and information for inspections and investigations.
  • Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct management or supervisory responsibilities.


Safety

Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment); report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. Follow all job-specific safety requirements including but not limited to wearing gloves, proper disposal of used medical supplies.


Travel

Approximately 50% travel is required between local Quaker campuses to perform work responsibilities. Required travel to outside Quaker campuses for training purposes is < 5%


Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, social media and VDO Surveillance
  • Licensed or eligible to obtain a Missouri Conceal and Carry Permit
  • Clean driving record
  • First Aid and CPR certified or able and willing to receive training to obtain certification

Preferred Education and Experience

The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and/or related expertise to qualify for this position.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Security, military, and or law enforcement background preferred
  • Basic purchasing experience to include online and retail

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM. Occasional overtime is required as job duties demand to coincide with day shift production schedule and assure facility is secured at end of shift.

  • regularly lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasionally more to assist with the lifting or movement of a human in an emergency situation;

  • work shifts of at least 8 hours, and occasionally longer, for 5 days each week; and
  • stand for prolonged periods

The employee is occasionally required to bend, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl as necessary.


Vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


It is an essential job function and safety rule, applicable to every employee working in a safety sensitive classified position, to be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to climactic variations, fumes or airborne particles, various levels of vibration, and moving mechanical parts. Various different types of Personal Protective Equipment might be required based on the employee's work location. The noise level in the work area is usually low, but hearing protection may be advisable or required for prolonged visits to certain parts of the factory.
