Develops and maintains departmental and cross-functional processes, standards, and rules needed to accomplish the team's mission. Provides guidance and support for development of appropriate system modeling, tools, databases, and information displays needed to evaluate reliability studies, large load operational and market data, and ongoing trends. Mentors and develops individual contributors and ensures team's responsibilities are fulfilled. Coordinates with other ERCOT departments to ensure large load reliability issues are addressed. Provides information and expertise to upper management and represents ERCOT in stakeholder groups and other external meetings.JOB DUTIES
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff
- Oversees the process for interconnecting large load projects to the ERCOT system
- Supervises ERCOT engineers reviewing required interconnection studies for large loads to ensure compliance with NERC and ERCOT rules
- Guides and supports development of appropriate system modeling, tools, databases, and information displays needed to ensure the reliable integration of large loads
- Collaborates with other ERCOT departments on policies related to planning, markets, and operations as they relate to large load interconnection processes
- Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures relating to the study and integration of large loads into the ERCOT System
- Develops, enhances, and maintains reports associated with Protocol and Guide compliance criteria
- Communicates ERCOT requirements to Market Participants who are interconnecting large loads
- May serve as the departmental representative on cross-functional teams, proactively providing technical, business, and policy guidance
- Provides mentorship to and ensures development of engineers on the team
- Participates in development and administration of department budget and financial goals
- Works proactively with upper management to plan and execute ERCOT's mission and initiatives relating to large load interconnections
- Represents ERCOT in technical committees and subcommittees
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering or related field (Required)
- Master's Degree: Electrical Engineering or related field (Preferred)
- or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
- PE Professional Engineer (Preferred)
- Requires minimum 5 years related work experience in excess of degree requirements
- 1 Year in a leadership role (Preferred)
- Minimum years of job-related experience can include time in leadership roles
- Experience working in one or more of the following areas: transmission planning, generation interconnection, grid operations, or electricity markets
- Experience performing power flow studies, contingency analysis, or dynamic studies
- Experience in one of the following or similar program for power flow analysis: Powerworld, PSSE
- Experience with JIRA
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Seek, Tableau, or Power BI
- Experience with SQL
- Technical writing and public speaking experience
- Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
- On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
- Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.
- Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time
