Position Overview:

As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. You will collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student. Your dedication and expertise will help our students overe challenges and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Individualized Planning: Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths and areas of need. Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, special education team members, and general education teachers.

  2. Instruction: Provide specialized instruction to students in accordance with their IEPs. Differentiate instruction to acmodate various learning styles and abilities. Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies and resources to support student growth.

  3. Data Monitoring: Regularly collect and analyze data to assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Keep accurate records of student performance and progress towards IEP goals.

  4. Collaboration: Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive and inclusive learning experience for all students. Attend IEP meetings and provide input on student progress and goals.

  5. Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management strategies and interventions to support students with challenging behaviors. Foster a positive and respectful classroom environment.

  6. Professional Development: Stay current with best practices and research in the field of special education. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

  7. pliance: Ensure pliance with all federal and state laws and regulations related to special education services. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for each student.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid Maine Special Education Teaching certification.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent munication and collaboration skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with diverse learning needs.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the unique needs of each student.
