Job Description
Title: Security Officer
Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Security Officer is responsible for patrolling and inspecting Lake Winnepesaukah property to protect against fire, theft, vandalism, employee/guest injury, illegal activity and/or inappropriate guest/employee activity in accordance with company policies and procedures. Security Officers will also assist in directing vehicles in parking areas, directing traffic, and assisting guests wherever possible.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide verbal instructions to guests and/or employees in assigned areas of responsibility including patrol areas, parking areas, and security posts. The Security Officer monitors and responds to inappropriate guest and/or employee behavior, enforces rules and restrictions, regulates guest/employee actions, enforces state and local laws, and requests assistance from the Safety & Security Supervisors as needed.
- Patrol the entire park and additional property watching for any problems, assisting guests in finding or to find lost individuals, and acting as a Security Officer by preventing both property destruction and theft.
- Assist guests in parking areas by directing traffic on and off the park and directing cars where to park. In addition, Security Officers will assist employees with some vehicle problems.
- Assist Human Resources with escorting terminated employees/disgruntled guests off the premises.
- Monitor the entrance and exit of all employees, visitors, and vendors as well as direct them appropriately.
- Escort all Cashiers, Food Associates, and Game Hosts as they pick up and drop off money from various locations on the park.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Assist First Aid and Safety as needed.
- Remain focused on the job while dealing with interruptions from guests and/or other employee contact.
Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid drivers' license.
- Must be able to accomplish the essential functions in order to be competent in the job.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to regularly use fingers, hands, and feel.
- Must have full use of hands, arms, and legs to reach and operate equipment.
- Able to move equipment which would include pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting.
- Able to stand, sit and/or walk for up to sixteen (16) hours.
- Able to walk quickly to/from job locations up to one (1) mile distance.
- Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
- Must have good hearing and visual acuity to observe equipment, guests, etc.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Able to read and understand daily checklists.
- Able to speak to give other employees and guests verbal instructions.
- Able to work in a considerably noisy environment from equipment and amusement rides.
- Able to perform work duties outside in varying weather conditions prevalent at the time.
- Requires occasional early arrivals and/or late-night departures.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Able to communicate effectively in a professional manner with co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, vendors, and Lake Winnepesaukah guests.
- Able to learn and understand all policies and procedures pertinent to the department and the functions the job.
