The Vector Control Operations Supervisor coordinates the day-to-day activities of Williams County Vector Control.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents in this position. - Supervises daily Vector Control operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, safety, and adherence to fundamental Integrated Pest Management procedures
- Supervises seasonal staff; provides training, monitors work, and evaluates performance
- Assists the Director in determining priorities and creating daily work assignments
- Continually analyzes ground and aerial applications of adulticides and larvicides for effectiveness, discusses recommendations for improvement with the Director, and implements approved changes
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Vector Control regulations, methodology, pesticide labels, and equipment
- Supervises and participates in the handling, mixing, and application of pesticides- enforcing all applicable laws, and safety regulations
- Performs regular maintenance and calibration of equipment
- Performs all tasks associated with mosquito surveillance and eradication, including placing traps, collecting specimens, lab identification, and conducting spray missions
- Conducts a variety of laboratory tests and interprets results
- Maintains a working relationship with pilots, vendors, and public and private agencies
- Completes and maintains thorough reports, records, and documents
- Supervises the implementation of an Unmanned Aerial System (drone) to aid in mosquito management services
- Oversees all Vector Control functions in the absence of the Vector Control Director
- Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code.
Typical Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND five (5) years of mosquito control experience OR a bachelor’s degree in a natural science OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the minimum qualifications
- Must possess a valid North Dakota Driver’s License, or equivalent
- Must possess or acquire a North Dakota Commercial / Governmental Pesticide Applicators Certification within three (3) months of start date
- Must possess or acquire a FAA Part 107 sUAS Certification and a North Dakota Aerial Applicator License within six (6) months of the start date
- Successful applicants must pass a background check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Work is performed in a variety of settings, including office, laboratory, and outdoor environments. Exposure to extreme temperatures may occur.
- Exposure to pesticides, pressurized chemicals, and chemical vapors
- May be required to lift up to 40 pounds
Compensation: Start pay is $35.00/hr and may vary depending on experience and training.
