("NSI"), a group company of Nippon Seiki, located in Troy, MI, is a tier one supplier of instrument clusters and head-up display units for FCA US, General Motors, BMW, Honda, Harley Davidson, Suzuki, Polaris, Arctic Cat and other OEM's. Purpose of JobThe Diversity, Inclusion, and Sustainability (DIS) intern will support NSNA in gathering consumption and emissions data from NSNA locations, validate the data gathered, and aid in streamlining the reporting process. The intern will have the opportunity to be exposed to Automotive OEM initiatives related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Environment, Social, Corporate Governance (ESG), and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Major Duties/ResponsibilitiesTop duties or activities in a given year. Not all tasks/steps performed are listed.Sustainability - Centralized Reporting System and Database Creation:Creating a centralized reporting system and database to streamline the process of storing and reporting on sustainability metrics. Create databases to organize and manage data efficiently.Implement data validation procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of information. Sustainability  - Verification, Analysis, and Data Collection:Gathering data on energy consumption, waste generation, and carbon emissions from various sources within the organization.Verify data accuracy related to energy consumption, waste management, carbon emissions, and other sustainability metrics against data submitted internally and externally.Analyze collected data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. Sustainability - AwarenessSupport the creation of awareness campaigns and educational materials related to (Specific SDG). Assist in the development and implementation of projects or initiatives aligned with (Specific SDG).Contribute to the preparation of periodic reports and updates on the impact of initiatives related to (Specific SDG). Education, Experience and KnowledgeRequired and/or preferred level of education, knowledge and skills that are necessary. EducationRecently graduated or currently pursuing a master’s or bachelor’s degree; preferably in Environmental Engineering or other Sustainability/Environmental degree. Related ExperienceUnderstanding of the IMDS (International Material Data System), and other environmental dataKnowledge of CO2 as it relates to calculating carbon footprint ExcelPowerPointAutomotive experience is preferred Special Training or CompetencyObservation, understanding, and execution of applicable company ISO/TS/IATF certification standards related to the role and impact on the overall organization. NSI CompetenciesAdaptation/Flexibility: Includes keeping an open mind regarding new ideas and ways of doing things.
