Come grow with us! General Purpose and Scope of Position: Wilbur-Ellis is seeking a Field Scout I for the Cascades region to be responsible for pest trap placement and monitoring/recording pest activity of various crops and pests. The trapper works closely with the support teams and consultants. This is a seasonal position starting February 1-October 31st. Key Skills and Abilities Include:Knowledge and/or experience with agricultural operations (preferred)Intermediate level proficiency with standard software including MS Office SuiteAbility to safely operate a vehicle within state laws and company policies and guidelinesRequires excellent interpersonal skills between both customers and fellow employeesAbility to repetitively bend, kneel and walk long distances while working in a non-climate-controlled environment and outside in inclement weatherExcellent math skills and the ability to maintain accurate countsDependability/reliability. Occasionally may need to work SaturdaysGood interpersonal skillsWillingness and desire to work overtime hours during busy seasons Key Personal Attributes Include:Proven leadership ability including the ability to build relationships with cross-functional team members including Product SpecialistsExcellent written and verbal and presentation communication skillsStrong time management skills with the ability to set prioritiesSkill in creative and critical thinking to achieve goalsAbility to remain detail-oriented with a wide range of responsibilitiesBilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:TrappingPrepare traps for placement in the fieldInstall traps in fields. Inspect and monitor every week.Maintain data counts of the number of pests trappedUse GPS technology to map fieldsComply with company safety standardsCollect soil, fruit, tissue, and other samples. Label samples and deliver to the office for processing and shipment to the lab. Complete TNS sample orders/other processing paperwork as directed.Collaborate with other support teams in the CascadesOther duties as assigned Irrigation Water Management Field TechnicianAid in determining new locations for soil moisture equipmentInstall soil moisture monitoring equipment and weather stationsBasic maintenance and troubleshooting of telemetry equipment and LoRa gateway networkEnsure data integrity through station upkeepCollaborate with other technicians in the Cascades Compensation and Benefits:In compliance with all states and cities that require transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $13.51 - $18 per hour.  Note that wages may vary based on location, skills, and experience.   COMPANY CULTUREWilbur-Ellis is a company you can be proud to call your employerWilbur-Ellis markets and distributes agricultural products, animal feed and specialty chemicals and food ingredients.
