Job Title: Assistant Maintenance Manager

We're looking for an experienced Industrial/Mechanical Assistant Maintenance Manager - Jack of all trades position

The maintenance department is a critical component of our success. The main goal is to keep production running. If a pump breaks, it needs to be quickly removed, install a working one, and then repair the broken one. This is just an example. It also involves welding, climbing ladders, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and many more areas. There's some structure (regular tasks), working on projects, and responding to issues. Preference to someone with a boilers license (or willing to get one quickly).


We are looking for that unique individual with the mechanical aptitude to handle whatever situation arises in our manufacturing/production environment. Attendance is critical. Daily, and in the absence of the Maintenance Manager, this position is directly responsible for the assignment, coordination and/or execution of activities within the Maintenance group to ensure a productive workforce that supports the facility. Oversee planning and preparation of work orders for the respective maintenance crew to perform work to ensure the plan is maintained in a safe, reliable and efficient manner.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attendance is critical to the success of the position.
  • Through proper planning and preventative work, limit unscheduled downtime of production lines.
  • Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance
  • Monitor tool and part inventories, and the condition and maintenance of the shop to ensure adequate working conditions.
  • Assists the Maintenance Manager in the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.
  • Examine objects, systems or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services or repairs.
  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
  • Inspect, test and measure completed work, using devices such as hand tools and gauges to verify conformance to standards and repair requirements.
  • Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment and replacement parts.
  • Perform skilled repair and maintenance operations, using equipment such as hand and power tools, welding equipment, etc.
  • Work with the Production Manager, General Manager, Production Supervisors, as well as other department managers, to maintain and coordinate projects that affect general building or production areas or related down time.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders, and lay out reference points for workers.
  • Effectively oversee maintenance personnel to ensure that all assigned activities are performed effectively and efficiently, in accordance with plant procedures and local, state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct plant walk-around to identify and analyze corrective and preventive maintenance, modification.
  • Maximizing equipment reliability through planning maintenance most effectively.
  • Assist with design, fabrication and assembly of production tooling as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School graduate minimum with 2 years post- secondary education preferred, with emphasis on industrial maintenance.
  • Minimum of 4 years maintenance or related-industry experience.
  • Prefer 2 years in supervision and planning experience, or related education.
  • 5 years plating shop maintenance experience preferred.
  • Requires experience in mechanical installation and maintenance work on plant electrical systems and equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches and work orders to others.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and planning skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • The ability to work in a team environment, which includes being self-motivated, accepting responsibilities, completing assigned action items and participating in a proactive manner in all team events.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
  • Respond to breakdowns with a whatever it takes to get it running attitude.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic engineering principles.
  • General math abilities
  • Resourcefulness and ability to complete difficult and unusual repair operations without supervision.
  • Understanding of safety rules and regulations to prevent unsafe set-ups, operations, or acts, which could cause injury to self, others, or the environment.
  • Knowledge of lockout, tag out electrical safety.
  • Ability to read and understand ladder diagrams, blueprints, and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Strong focus on safety, wearing proper PPE, doing work in a safe manner, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and instruct in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work on ladders & heights up to 30 ft.
  • Ability to weld and use torches safely.
  • Ability to lift and move 1-50 lbs.

Wage Range: Based on experience and qualifications

Reviews at 60 days and 6 months. Generally, a rate increase is included. Regular reviews are twice a year for the first 3 years, then yearly after that. Bonuses are given quarterly, providing we are profitable.


1st Shift: Hours to be determined


Signing Bonus: $5000 (current employees are not eligible for signing bonus)
