The Role and the Company

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a qualified Sr. Sales Representative, responsible for Cement and Slag sales in the assigned sales territories of South Florida. The incumbent will be responsible for assuring maximum profitability and market share growth within this territory. This position will be based in Fort Lauderdale, FL and reports directly to the VP of Sales.

What you’ll get to do

  • Work independently to effectively manage a large territory, with overnight travel, including technical, logistical, and credit issues.
  • Increase market share by obtaining new customers
  • Manage existing active accounts including credit
  • Negotiate pricing with clients
  • Analyze and optimize distribution and logistics issues
  • Assist in coordinating deliveries with our dispatch team and handling of delivery issues
  • Provide technical assistance to all customers
  • Assist customers in resolving cement and slag performance issues and questions
  • Conduct all promotional activities within territory
  • Actively participate in local and national trade and professional associations
  • Participate in weekly, monthly and yearly forecasts, budgets, and planning strategies
  • Identify new sustainability opportunities for use of slag and SCM materials
  • Ensure commitment to and compliance with all Group and Company antitrust and competition laws and policies, including the Code of Business Conduct, through personal example, regular training, and periodic review of sales transactions.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Strong understanding of Cement and Slag markets in South Florida
  • Minimum 10+ years of industry experience
  • Knowledge of the construction industry
  • Experience participating with Industry associations
  • Excellent personal interaction and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, able to effectively work with minimal supervision
  • Computer competency using Outlook, MS Office, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to travel

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Technical RM / Cement QC Experience preferred
  • Previous direct sales experience in a cement or allied industry preferred

Work Environment

  • Role operates primarily a professional office environment but requires conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
