POSITION TITLE:  Payroll & Benefits Specialist

 

START DATE: As soon as possible

CAMPUS/DEPARTMENT: Ranger Main Campus

 

General Statement of Duties: The Payroll & Benefits Specialist provides oversight to payroll and benefit functions. In addition to these duties the role assists the business department and its associated offices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Superb oral and written communication skills with a self-starter spirit
  • Strong background in compliance, budgeting, and program oversight

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with experience in payroll and benefits or business administration
  • Experience in working with Poise, Jenzabar or other payroll & benefit systems
  • Demonstrated success in the learning and use of software reporting systems;
  • Experience in contract management/development
  • Experience in higher education

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Prepare Student Payroll
  • Prepare monthly employee payroll
  • Help employees enroll in annual benefits
  • Maintain current welcome package and in-depth knowledge of benefit offerings
  • Prepare monthly state, employment, leave & TRS reports
  • Assist in monthly or annual audits
  • Oversee worker compensation and student athlete claims
  • Maintain safety awareness information and ensure employees receive monthly information
  • Prepare daily business log for student payment center (Bursar’s office)
  • Performs other related duties as directed
