JOB SUMMARY: The CEI Project Engineer position applies technical and management ability to administration, inspection, and monitoring of the construction Contract effectively and efficiently, thereby generating revenue. This position directs construction engineering administration and inspection programs and plans/organizes the work of others. The position is the main client contact for project-specific issues and keeps clients informed of all significant activities, decisions, correspondence, reports, and other communications. This position applies technical and management abilities to construction Contract administration, project inspection, and materials testing.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Direct construction engineering administration and inspection program.
  • Plan and organize the work of others.
  • Lend expertise to complex and challenging construction issues.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews.
  • Keep client informed of all significant activities, decisions, correspondence, reports, and other communications.
  • Develop and review policies, methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Ensure that Contractor surveillance activities meet client requirements.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and special provisions of the construction Contract.
  • Schedule, attend, and ensure attendance of appropriate staff project meetings.
  • Ensure that Contractor is performing administrative duties as agreed on in the Contract
  • Produce reports and verify quantity calculations and field measures for payment purposes.
  • Ensure that construction delays are minimized.
  • Communicate with Company staff frequently using email and telephone.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Civil Engineering degree from accredited college or university.

Experience: 2 years of engineering experience in construction of major road or bridge structures.

A Masters Degree in Engineering may be substituted for 1 year of engineering experience.

Registration: Florida-Registered Professional Engineer (or registered in another state with the ability to obtain a PE within 6 months)

Qualifications: As stipulated by Client and may include:

  • FDOT Advanced MOT
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level II

Certifications: None

Other: Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable MVR

CTQP Quality Control Manager Course – pass exam

FDOT Critical Structures Construction Issues course (bridges)
