General Summary:

Under the direction and guidance of Supervisor, Engagement Team, the Engagement Clinician participates in the development and the design of specific engagement and outreach strategies. The Engagement Clinician coordinates, facilitates, and reports out on specific community engagement collaboratives focusing on eliminating barriers to accessing mental health services and help to influence the design of organizational level strategies through established criteria, Level of Care determination tools, and clinical skill to evaluate individuals for community mental health eligibility and service needs.

Essential Functions:

  1. Works collaboratively among the Engagement Team to design engagement and community outreach strategies.
  2. Works directly with Engagement Team to run focus groups on specific topics.
  3. Works directly with consumers who have high rates of non-compliance with appointments.
  4. Identifies and problem solves barriers to appointment compliance.
  5. Conducts screenings and assessments in the community and links consumers to access for care.
  6. Completes an Intake Assessment to determine an individual's eligibility for Medicaid specialty services and supports, MIChild, Healthy Michigan Plan, and/or Substance Abuse Block Grant (SABG).For those who do not have any of these benefits, identifies those whose acute psychiatric needs qualify them as a priority population to be served.
  7. Performs all duties as assigned to ensure the LifeWays Access Department runs efficiently and effectively. Duties include but are not limited to: Open Access, Rapid Access, REMI screenings, level of Care Determination tool Callback Queue, Waitlist updating, specialty screenings (M-CHAT, SCQ, etc.), petition supports, brief screens, intakes, pre-screens, crisis interventions and safety planning.Builds and maintains relationships with community partners and constituents.
  8. Provides education seminars to community providers on effective ways to access mental health services.
  9. Works with community partners to eliminate barriers for community constituents to access mental health services.
  10. Conducts targeted outreach to underserved populations in relation to accessing mental health services.
  11. Provides effective reports on results of engagement and outreach activities to inform agency level strategy design.
  12. Works collaboratively with other teams to ensure compliance with timelines as outlined by Michigan Mission-Based Performance Indicator System (MIMBPIS).
  13. Provides backup to Access and Crisis Services.
  14. Performs all duties as assigned to ensure Engagement Team provides effective outreach and education to underserved populations.
  15. Quarterly objectives are achieved, and deliverables are completed as outlined in the project plans, including a goal of 50% billable time.
  16. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Required Education/Certification/Licensure:

  • At least one year experience in working with children if performing duties within Intensive Crisis Stabilization Services (ICSS).
  • Must possess a valid U.S. motor vehicle operator's license, and successfully complete motor vehicle record check.
  • Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA)Training
    • DECA for Infants: one month up to 18-months*
    • DECA for Toddlers (DECA-T): 18-months up to 36-months
    • DECA Clinical (DECA-C): 2 years up to age six.*
  • Clinician I: Master's degree. Limited Licensed Masters Social Worker (LLMSW), Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC), Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP).
  • Clinician II: Master's degree. Fully Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), Fully Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Fully Licensed Psychologist (LP).
  • Clinician III: Master's degree. Fully Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), Fully Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Fully Licensed Psychologist (LP) and is paneled/credentialed to bill for a variety of private insurances, or is fully trained/certified to provide licensure supervision within their education and scope of practice.

Preferred Education/Certification/Licensure:

  • Infant Mental Health (IMH).
  • Successful completion of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training.
  • Safety Care Instructor Certification.
